Raising the battery tray question
Well, I've begun the process of attempting to install a second battery on the driver's side, where the old air filter box used to be. I've picked up and modified a factory battery tray, but still need between 1 and 2 inches of lift under the tray in order for it to be perfect. I've seen people on other forums use wood as a spacer. Is this smart? That's all I really need to know. Is it smart/safe to have wood under the hood, even if it's secured properly? I don't have a means of cutting metal, or fabricating steel, so I've had to try other options. I've picked up some random metal pieces that could work to raise the tray as I need, but wood would honestly be easier to manipulate, just don't know how safe it is.
Thanks for any insight you guys might have.

Well, wood easily catches fire and it get pretty hot and dangerous under the hood. So if I were you I'd just find my self a good piece of metal and make it work...
