Random Square in Dash??
Soo theres that random square right beneath the clock in the dash. I was thinking of making an ipod touch mount or something right there but idk. Has anyone done anything there?

I was thinking of cutting a hole in it and finding a trip computer type thing to put in from the junkyard. It would be an awesome addition to the bland interior but I don know exactly how many wires I would have to run let alone sensors for things like outside temp lol. Does anyone know what he square was originally used for? I'm guessing some AMC era XJs have an option that was put there?

Depends about what part you're talking about. Pics would help.
I know that on several XJs depending on what options you had the various cut-outs in the dash were used for switches etc.
This thread also really doesn't belong in the Fab section, next time post it up in the Chat section.

I was thinking about putting a screen in there for a reverse camera, but unfortunately, it's too small. The newer XJ doesn't even have the clock, so every part of that thing is just wasted space. I like the trip computer idea. As far as I know, there was never anything in that spot. I'm always looking at it wondering what I could do with it though. I'm thinking a dock for my Zune would be kind of nice to have right there.

I can tell something was like glued there at one point haha. But yeah its just empty space that could be used for something else.

I have the 91 Cherokee Laredo and all my warning lights are on the left side of the steering wheel, its just weird that they would have a random square hahaha
