I have the same combo on a 99 and it took me quite a long time to actually find one for sale. The 5sp 4x4 4.0ls are getting more and more difficult to find so soon enough, it will be considered rare.
I'd like to think the Briarwood and Pioneer trims are rare. I saw a Pioneer in highschool and my friends lost it for some reason.
The original 2.8 liter models are getting to be rare. Not that it means anything special because they were **** from the start and I doubt 30 years time has been anything such as beneficial.

I have an 85 2 door Pioneer 4x4 with 2.5L 3sp auto. Only reason it is probably rare is because so many of that model have already gone on to Jeep heaven
Except for a missing headliner and a little rust spot in front of the rear wheels and peeling clear coat mine is pretty much in great condition with only 142K miles on it. It still has the original wheels too.

Yes they suck, definitely rare lol. Also they may have 4.56:1 gearing...
Though I've yet to encounter any Briarwoods. I see the name come up on here very rarely.
I recall reading that about 10% of XJs were manual shift. Not exactly "rare"

There is a thread about rare options and parts.
https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f59/ra...ptions-167410/
Any XJ or MJ with the 2.1 diesel is rare.
I'd say sun and moon visors.
XJ Wagoneers in general are rare.
MJ Comanches are hard to find in the north.
Fluid sentinel system is a rare find.
Spare tire sub box is a rare find.
There is more but I can't think of anything.

I couldn't find a 5 speed newer model xj at decent price so I found a 98 with a blown engine for dirt cheep in mint condition otherwise. Transferred my stroked engine mated with a 6 speed. Did a little electronic wizardry to simulate the auto trans and voila. It's awesome to drive and tow with. Just not a quick shifting transmission. As a bonus, the auto PCM has a police package option that when selected (with a switch) makes the idle go up to 1000 rpm. Oil pres goes up and it has gobs of torque on idle to crawl with. I'm loving it.
wasn't rare before but now I think it is.

"RARE" XJ's! There's someone locally selling a '95 lifted sport... claiming it's "RARE"... Not sure what's so "rare" about it; looks like every other one on here... he's asking $6K.
Hell, I gotta' '95 Sport; 156K on the clock. I think it's rare... it ain't lifted.
