Default Is regearing worth it?

I'm running 33s on stock 8.25 and d30 and I'm going I have about $1500 to spend on my jeep soon. It will be driven about 10 miles daily and highway every other month. My options are looking like spend all the money on 4.56 gears or getting long arms and maybe a few other goodies for $1000 and saving money. What would y'all do?

D30 with chromoly shafts, ditch the 8.25 for an 8.8 with disc brakes, 4.56, and now would be the time for lockers if you ever want to run those

Ill be honest, I go offloading maybe every other month so lockers aren't really a priority at this point and i doubt ill go bigger than 33s so idk about the 8.8 swap haha. Basically I'm wondering if ill even spend the $1200-1500 on gas if I don't regear. Is it worth the money.

Gears are well worth it. I have 4.56 gears with 32" kevlars. HUGE improvement over stock 3.55 gears, acceleration is great and I can do 80mph all day long.

Totally unnecessary...the 8.25 is fine. Keep it, unless you're adventurous and find a good deal on an 8.8 that has discs already. That probably would be cheaper than doing the disc swap on the 8.25

yup, the 8.25 is more than adequate.

if you drive your jeep at all... trail, road, whatever; gears are worth it. you can get gears and install kits front and rear for 400 bucks, then your looking at around 500 in labor for both axles. then you have some cash for a locker or two. an aussie locker up front would be a gread add for 250 bucks more.

Any suggestions for gears and kits around 500? Haha I've called a few shops and they all quote $1400+ out the door

Short driving distances, no need for lockers.

Why get long arms or gears?

Seriously. I have 33's with stock gearing. Locked front and rear. And am not totally convinced I need gears.

Sure OD is crap, but that is about it.

I drive 50 miles every day. It will still pull highway speeds in OD fully locked.

Haha.

And if you ever got gears, you're going to wonder how you ever lived without em. They make a WORLD of difference.

OP, check the vendor section of this forum. The user RWKHausSupply has some amazing sales right now actually.

I have rode in jeeps just like mine geared. Honestly was not night and day difference. Better on the street yes.

But a deal breaker? Not for that kind of cash. And I do the installation myself.

Its on the list, don't get me wrong. just not a priority at the moment.

or uninstall the axles completely from the jeep. gut them yourself. then have them set up the gears I've seen people get it done $100 per axle. that tipped the scale for me on whether it was worth it or not
