I love my 89. If there's a choice of hard or easy path it always goes on the more difficult. IMO here are the downfalls which are not a year-for-year correlation with Renix but here they are just for fun. Although these are often upgraded on the later models anyway.
- Tiny front axles. I already upgraded mine.
- Tiny D35 rear most of the time. Easily upgraded.
- Front brake disk and calipers. No performance aftermarket option. Just OEM.
- Brake booster/master cylinder. Easy upgrade with WJ/ZJ parts.

Im down to one Renix Jeep, the 90 XJ got scrapped, and I just sold the 89 MJ. Still got the 87 2 door, but it*won't have a Jeep engine much longer, I can't wait to take the 2.5, AX-5, NP231, and both axles to the scrap yard and put something better in the Jeep.

HO throttle body, then Renix throttle body, and then you can see in the 3rd photo how much you can bore a Renix throttle body to match the intake manifold opening.

Chiming in, Gotta love the RENIX straight forward and simple, can't beat solid state.
Most smog shops and mechanics won't touch them around bakersfield because they won't tell them what's wrong

What happens to the throttle response when these Renix throttle body are bored? I'm not looking for speculation but 1st hand experience. From my auto racing days generally power goes up but throttle response goes down when doing this with nothing else. Just wondering what the reality is.
Also, how about your smog test results.
