Replacing the dryer .....
I can't remember where I saw it but there was a suggestion to replace the dryer if you are recharging the system. On an 87 Cherokee what does it look like and where does it live?

I found this dryer, It's inexpensive, 28 bux vs. 69 plus shipping. I'm tempted, anyone think it's a bad idea?

I have used UAC branded parts (compressor and drier) in another vehicle and they've worked fine. Just be aware you'll be getting a part that is "Hecho en China" - but that is likely to be the case with name brand parts as well.

My cheap one is working just fine after 2 summers. I would say go for it, I think mine is "4 seasons" branded (I don't think it's the same as the hotel chain though)

Don't let to much air in it! Change out fast or it will be junk ! I know! Just replaced everything in mine ! Hoses , condenser, evaporator, dryer, expansion valve, etc. I over exposed the dryer to air!

And don't get condenser from orriellys! Fits but not compatible with sanden compressors! Get O G condenser and save lots of money! I can explain if any questions on the matter?

Yes, the drier should always be the last component to hook up and it should remain sealed until then. Driers should not be left exposed to air for more than a few minutes.

At this point I don't know where it's supposed to live. The thing from ebay looked like a few different pieces IRRC.
