I went straight home from work yesterday so excited to take the end caps off of my rear bumper and ran into some troubles. First of all, its a pain in the *** project. I revealed what I've been dreading most, rust under only one of the lower panels..thank god. Still disappointed however the rust was what you'd call "cancer"..needs to be replaced not fixed.

My question is, where can I find these replacement panels for a 2000 Xj Sport? Quadratec has them listed for an 84-96 Cherokee, or are they all relatively the same? I'm eventually getting a rear bumper so I'm not worried too much about the appearances

Certifit, not sure which part of PA you live in but here's a store, it's called certi fit. They Have cheap body parts, you'll have to paint them though, they come in black or primer white.

I've called at least 10 different companies for this replacement lower quarter panel and everyone had told me the same thing, the part is either discontinued or no longer available. I was just thinking of taking it to a body shop and seeing what they plan on doing with it

 

That's a bummer to find rust when your jeep is so nice. I expect rust on mine lol

 

Could just do a comp cut if you're planning on a rear bumper later. Cut the whole lower quarter off and weld in a piece of plate. I'll be doing this to mine eventually.

I dont have a welder, and cant weld at all anyways... so I just grinded off the rust and bondo-ed the hole the best I could. Doesnt look the best but its under a bumper cap anyways....

 

Make em, it's easy....make a template out of poster board. Trace it ont 20ga steel....weld it in place.

It is easy, can make some right now. The hardest part is what I would charge you to cut the old ones off and put the new ones on.

I just cut them off and weld in a new piece flat and get rid of that rock catcher. Sorry only pick I got.

I just cut out the rust used rusty metal primer and made up a panel.used a combo of pop rivets, panel adhesive, and seam sealer. Then primed and bedlined
