Rims or locker

Not sure where you wheel at. are you one of the kids that just does "muddin" or "the local power line road behind wal-mart"

With that being said I don't know why people lift and lock 2wd vehicles. If I'm going to be putting money into a vehicle then I am wanting it to function to its full potential, hence the lift and lockers. And you obviously cant get the same performance out of a locked 2wd vehicle compared to a locked 4wd vehicle, so why waste the money.

Cause some of our xjs have been in the family a long time and they grow on you, so you cant see yourself selling them if you can get a locker, lift and tires and do some medium offroading nothing extreme and in the future you have the option to make it 4x4, its all about what you want

no it doesn't. Lets say you have the rears in sand, mud snow, loose rock and you have the front on solid ground with traction. the front will get about 45-50 percent of traction and that will be enough to pull you out. If the locked rear is in bad enough you might just spin. Also where is your low range gear reduction? At least out here in the trails we have in Arizona you need low range a lot.

This is true statement, but I personally would much rather have at least one wheel pulling up front than 2 pushing in the rear.

say one side of the jeep is in said mud sand snow what happens then?
your right a locked 2wd isn't better then open 4wd. But open diffs arnt that great either.
If you had a 2wd ( don't know how this would happen to begin with) and wanted to keep the jeep you love
For the money I would lock it and Wheel it.
Then start searching the junk yards and Craig's list for a axle tcase tranny and drive shaft.

Nope I'm one of those "kids" who rarely gets to wheel. I live in a state where that is illegal. I'm 27 and old enough to realize that a $1000 fine and having my jeep taken isn't worth a ride down the "local powerlines behind Walmart" when I do get to wheel its on private land or another state.

thats funny you think a 2wd would do as good as a open diff 4x4 lol. yea they both are "technically" 2wd lol but in most situations having the front working for you will always be better than a 2wd. SAVE FOR A 4x4 SWAP!!! but if you really feel like dumping money into it as is then def a locker.

I wouldn't own a 2WD xj, just doesn't make sense for ME...
But you do and YOU enjoy it!
Wheels that will look relatively the same (black 15" wheels) or a locker? a locker takes my vote hands down. locking my diff's where the best thing I ever did.
With that being said I hope your 2WD doesn't have the D35. Snap a shaft and your dead in the water.... lol Not that I really think its going to happen or often with your current tire size. but still... If you Do have a D35 I would just track down a 8.25 with a LSD as this is mainly a street vehicle with mild off-road interest. if you have 3.07's you could get 3.55's and be better off with gearing too...(didn't give to much vehicle info) just my .34 cents
