Default Roof Rack Cross Bars

I have a mopar Jeep roof basket that's been sitting in my garage for months because I have no idea how to mount it to my XJ without a set of roof cross bars. I bought 4 rain gutter clamp mounts and all I need to do now is make some cross bars for them to attach to.
I was wondering if anyone knows what material I should use. I'm trying to keep it on the cheap side, so should I use plumbing pipe? I decided not to use square steel tubing since it's going for $20/4 ft. Let me know what you think would work, what it'll cost, and where I gotta get it at!!

Got some today! I got two 5 foot pieces for $2.30 each. I decided to get the smaller size so I don't have to do any cutting at all! Thanks for the tip man!
