That sucks man, but you live in one of the biggest crime infested areas in California. If you want to keep something, don't leave it out. I grew up in Stockton, I couldn't keep anything nice without some jackhole either taking it or destroying it in that pit of Hell.

Crime rate isn't as bad in Concord although I guess they have had problems recently in that shopping center.

Still can't believe they took the entire setup right off the top of my Jeep in daylight in a shopping center!
