I used rust-oleum undercoating, been exposed for about 3 to 4 months. No real problems yet

Ive always like the durability of Rattle Car Bedliner spray. Seems to hold up well to abuse and UV.

Is that the stuff that gets all chunky? or does it dry smooth?

It will dry with a slight texture, depending on how many coats and at what distance you spray. Not enough texture to feel rough but deffenitly not smooth.

if your painting EMT/ conduit make sure to prep the surface well. paint doesnt like to stick to galzanized metal. i just took a palm sander with 120 grit and went to town

That might be true with most paints but the stuff i used didn't have the first problem, didn't prep it at all. I used rust oleum undercoating.

no welding is a very doable operation. it gets alittle involved but i did it by using the factory m6 thread inserts that the factory rack is screwed too. I of course welded the m6 inserts to the roof before installing but with 6 or 7 contact points on each side its strong as *****.. ill post pics or get alittle more detailed if this sparked a fire in your *****.. and its something i can go take off leaving no signs of it and i can install the factory rack back to norm....
if someone wants to instruct me on the how too post pics..
