Looks good. In Ontario if a vehicle is branded as Irreparable then you're out of luck. The yards can change the brand (as the owners, obviously) Salvage titles can be fixed, certified Rebuilt and plated.
And yeah I've seen mostly good XJs in the yard here before, that or they were just beaten up (one had the passenger door held on with self tapping screws and sheet metal for hinges...). All of the Grands seem to get screwed!

they sell the header panel for 45$ (pretty sure it includes the grill and everything else, if not well it's 20$ for the grill and probably 5-10$ for the lights and all the hardware included with it) and 36$ per fender in case you need them. the worst part would be shipping.. if they end up not selling it to me i'll probably grab the front end.

Welllllllll I'd probably only need to grab the headerpanel and grill assembly (and all the trim for the headlights and hardware). I'd assume the fenders from any pre 97 would work, no? I NEED THIS front end. Let me know what happens with this thing. If it turns out they won't sell you the whole thing and you wanna make a buck, PM me the price it takes for me to get this grill/header panel assembly. I'm very serious and have paypal locked and loaded. Shipping shouldn't be too bad especially because I can give a business address to ship to.

Relays, relay boxes, headlights, brakes and fuses are the first go, along with the little clips for the center console compartment, then the radiators, fans, transmissions, t-cases if they are 4x4, then parts off the engine or the whole engine along with axles, then carpets get stripped out, then the seats.
And they bring these things in by the bucket load. Each week there are probably 3 or 4 new ones, and there are ALWAYS at least a dozen XJ's in the yard. You don't even have to check online to see, you just KNOW they will be there.

Wow! That is impressive! Around here, when they get a new XJ in the yard it takes less than a week and you are left with virtually nothing but a shell.

last summer i salvaged, to my surprise, a lsd 8.25. the jeep had been there for a good month or two before i decided to get the axle, only a door and fender were removed, probably from someone that had been in an accident and needed those panels in particular. 60 bucks for the whole thing, i was beyond happy. it was a half price day, but still.

When I got my Gladiator, I went looking for a compatible carburetor at one of the junk yards near where I lived and could not find a single carb in the whole yard. It struck me as so bizarre that I asked one of the people at the counter about it as I was leaving, and he said, "Oh yeah, there's a carburetor guy who comes in here every few weeks and takes them all for cores. He'll walk out sometimes with a whole wheelbarrow full of 'em."

hahah that pretty much sums it up
yeah that's what i hate about junkyards, people who make a business out of them. i guess it's part of life, but it still sucks when it's your only way to get a particular part or at least save a lot of money by going that way.
relay boxes are empty most of the time, but for the rest, I'm "that guy" who strips the jeep down (without breaking anything) for the fun of it but doesn't buy anything. it's a very useful place to learn doing jobs i wouldn't tackle on my own jeep first.
Sounds like you have parts strippers working the yards there. I went to an LKQ once where you couldn't take ten steps without tripping over a Mexican stripping a car. There was a big business there in Spanish-speaking car repair, and the local shops and used parts dealers would send guys in to strip off anything they could find for their more popular cars. I never bothered going back there because all the Cherokees were stripped of anything useful within hours of being put on the yard.

I have never seen a yard that won't sell a car whole,My brother years ago bought a car from the junkyard. We was there looking for something when it came in on a roll back and didn't run.He bought it had a clean title and was just a fuel pump.Or a time he had bought a wrecked car and needed a dog house and a lot of stuff. The junkyard said 150 bucks take all you want off that car and we did lol.

We have a local pick-n-pull that has been around for about 10 years now. They will NOT sell a complete vehicle from their lot PERIOD. They also won't sell unboltable body panels (quarters, floors, etc). No power tools allowed (no shears then). Even if you snip a quarter or body panel they won't sell it.
They had a BUNCH of XJs shortly after the cash for clunkers fiasco. I snagged a 99+ intake just laying in a bin for 5 bux. They couldn't sell those XJs due to the CFC rules tho. Could pull parts off em for like 30 days tho. I wasn't planning so I missed out on prime parts for my 92.
Now they don't have ANY XJs. Sucks..
