In San Diego for a month, what to do?
I will be in San Diego for a month for work. I have worked out here on and off for the last 8 years or so. Already plan to head to the swap meets this weekend. Next weekend I would like to hit a self serve scrap yard to pick some parts for the Cherokee. Nothing major, couple interior odds and ends. Anyone know a yard around here with a bunch of Cherokees on the lot? Mine is a 90 four door btw.
Also, would like to hit up some car shows or racing events while I'm here. I caught the Antique Drags a couple years ago, it was great. Anyone know some events coming up in the next month?

Not automotive, but see the Wild Animal Park. Not the zoo ( that's good, too), the wild animal park. The bird show by itself is worth the price of admission.

There is some pretty cool off-roading in Anza-Borrego state park. Passed it a couple of times and it looks quite active on weekends with a few interesting spots to watch from.
Palomar Mountain is pretty cool. Fun switchbacks on the roads up and down
Probably a bit too far for a day trip, but Joshua Tree natl park is also really neat.

Hey there bad idea! Used parts: Hard Rock 4x4 and craigslist!! Wheelin: cherkl mentioned Anza-Borrego(fun and many places to go-Ocotillo wells, the bad lands, pumpkin patch, Salton sea, Superstition Mts and much more), but a little closer into town than the desert is Corral Canyon(50+ miles of trails all differ skill level(from norm trails to kick *** rock crawlin) with three campgrounds(that are free having an adventure pass) also out her in this area(Campo) are trails all over(along railroad tracks, up mnts, along the Mexico border fence). Just all around JEEP fun and not quite the drive to the desert!!! visit riderplanet-usa.com look up San Diego and Happy Trails...

Ya i rekon that would be a bad_idea! Really didn't know where you were coming from though!! Could have been landing in San Diego with a JEEP from Jupiter(due to profile)... Anyways hope your visit to SD is a good one! You just missed the speed boat races last weekend.

I knew I was forgetting something. Updated my location. I'm from Virginia Beach. I just bought this jeep 5 months ago. Still working out the bugs. I barely trust it to drive to work.
