Default Scan Guage II & Ultra Guage

Anyone install and use either of these these products?

http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/index.htm

http://www.scangauge.com/

They appear to be useful, although I mainly am interested in tranny temperature, that and it would be nice to have a more accurate engine temp, both which the Scan gauge provides. The Ultra Gauge is less expensive but does not appear to have a tranny temp feature. Any experiences and/or thoughts on these two products? Thanks.

Get on eBay and look up elm327 Bluetooth adapter. I paid 35 bucks for mine 2 years ago best 35 bucks I've ever spent. Connects to any android and other smart phones via the torque app and is customisable to see whatever suits your fancy and you can lookup and clear fault codes which at a garage they would charge 20 bucks to just clear the codes off computer so it almost pays for itself the first time

Thanks but besides the fact I do not have a smart phone, I am interested in the gauge capability, specifically tranny gauge.

ScanGuage is amazing. It's very common in the VW diesel world... I have one, and love it.

Cool & thanks. Good to know it works as promoted and that it will work in diesels as my wife has VW TDI and in addition to my Jeep, I am considering a diesel truck.

Yeah, just gotta play with the settings on it... But very common on diesels, and very useful in my opinion. Again, love it.

Try looking around the OBD Scanner forum of TDIClub.com. For example, here is the same question you asked between the two scanners:

I've got a SG-II for my motorhome, and use the trans temp and tachometer features as my '02 E-450 dash didn't have either of these options. Works great, can be seen in any lighting conditions that I have encountered driving day or night, rain or shine, and could not have been easier to install and setup.

Thank you as well. I am convinced it will go on my Christmas list.

So I'm alittle lost. It's funny I was gonna ask a thread like this...

Do either of these gauges work with the Cherokee?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found out they sell them for 2000 XJs

I have my SG-II plugged into the Jetta full time, and have a cable zip-tied into place more-or-less permanently. I purchased a second cable, so I can still use the SG-II as a scan tool for other vehicles, without removing the cable in the Jetta.

So, if you plan on using it permanently in one vehicle, buy a second cable and put it in the tool box. Scan codes and remove codes on another vehicle, and put back into the original car you had it in to begin with.
