Well start with thinking this.
Is a Cherokee worth 6k? You can probably talk him down a bit
Is a 4.5" Rubicon express lift good? Yes a 4.5" is a good height to throw 33's under.
Hows the mileage? Actually decent for an xj my 98 has 155, xxx and they go 300, 000+.
The 0331 head. I believe that is the one prone to cracking? Double check that. Check the jeep to see if It has that or a replacement one or if its an earlier 99 then you get the good one. If it is the 0331 bring this point up to lower price. If it is a replacement one, bring this up to lower price because engine has needed work done to it. Also see if it has a slip yoke eliminator. With a 4.5" you will probably get one eventually but check prices to see if if is a hassle for you. Check to see if the lift was done right and has extended lines and right size shocks and make sure there are no hockey pucks under the springs. Check for rust, oil dripping, sludgy antifreeze, old cracked hoses, the more you know the better you are. But even if it has all the good things and what it needs with no rust and right head I would probably still try and talk it down a little.

0331 head was used on 00-01 xj's.
"It is easy to determine what head you have. On the drivers side, about halfway down the cylinder head, clean the lip of the head with a rag or solvent if really greasy. With a good light, you can read the casting number of the head." -post from naxja
If it's private party, we should be talking more like $4500 for a super clean 99 with a lift

pricing also depends on the demand for them in a givin area. so 6k with 109k on it is prolly worth 4500-5500 around here, depending on overall condition. find out all the maint. thats been done to it. if its been a woodser i would pass for that price. if its been beat to hell on the trail its not worth anywhere near 6k. more like 2-3500.
0331 head started in late 99. so check the build date on the door plaq. and confirm it from the casting #.
Condition is everything in this case. we need pics.

damn that is a cool picture
it's super clean looking. but if the lift is the only thing done to it I'd still only offer 3500-4500. what is the KBB price of that 99 cherokee in your area?
still has the stock tie rod too

As long as everything's in good condition that price sounds right for southern CA. Less rust=more $. Around here stockers will easily go for $4-5k clean.

Yea, the white two door is his as well. I talked to him more about the cherokee and he said he also had chery bomb exaust installed, the Rubicon express lift was done through 4wheel parts. I am going to purchase this cherokee in the near future. First things i am going to install is a CB radio, Rear tire carrier, and some KC HID lights. What CB would you reccommend? what are the brightest lights out there besides and LED light bar?

Tie Rod: A tie rod is a slender structural unit used as a tie and (in most applications) capable of carrying tensile loads only
Applications: In automobiles, the tie rods are part of the steering mechanism. They differ from the archetypal tie rod by both pushing and pulling (operating in both tension and compression)
in cherokees, the tie rod connects to the drag link and the driver side knuckle. it's part of the steering and the stock one is very weak. so in this case, good thing? meaning that he probably hasn't wheeled that jeep very hard. because those things bend like wet noodles

I think the cherokee has the hockey pucks. What is the benefit of having the hockey puck down there? what does it do?
