Thanks for the input everyone. I found a blue '97 with 200k and bought it yesterday. $3500. Not the best deal, but as you all could tell, I was desperate. It is very clean though, if it did not say 200k on it, I would believe 98k. AC blows cold. Radio works. Even the power side mirror adjustor works. I might post a build thread on it later.. looking at lift kits. The whole deal.

 

I guess none of us really understand whyv you were so desperate in the first place. Beforev you go and spend even more on lifts and everything, do a complete service overhaul on it. Get it in top running condition and go from there.

Sounds like he found what he was after. May have over paid a bit but when I was looking for XJ's for my kid around me a clean one would go for about that price and sell very quick. I saw a couple sell in a matter of hours after listing.
