I'm going to get two ZJ grills, one 7-slot, and one 8-slot, and cut both horizontally down the middle the put the 8-slot on the bottom half and the 7-slot on the top half. Jeep peeps will be... "Mind... BLOWN." Or they will just shake their heads and call me stupid. LOL

I pretty much do anyway. You watch. While everyone else has KM2s or MT/Rs, I will likely end up with Baja Claws.

I think you are right. But know what? I may have misunderstood which he meant, Model or make? So my reply to that might be off track.

Well, I'm with you, because we were talking about "Jeep", which is a make, like Ford or Mercedes, not a model. The longest running Jeep model was the XJ, right? It's not like Jeep has been making the same model CJ-2A, the first model bearing the name "Jeep", but only in the letter designation, since the 40's.

EDIT: I just looked through the Jeep chronology and it appears that the SJ model was produced the longest: 1962-1991 That is, I suppose, unless you consider "Wrangler" a model. There have been enough design changes in the various designations of the Wrangler that it's hard to not distinguish the letter designations as separate models, IMO.

I think we might be at the point where we need him to jump back in and explain exactly what direction he was going. lol

I would agree with both the SJ and the XJ.... simply because throughout their entire respective production years, which were significant.... they hardly changed either of them a bit. Just a few goodies here and there....but overall the design was very close from beginning to end.
I personally think they got it right... and when they knew they had a design that worked, and appealed to the masses... they did the smart thing... they didn't screw with the formula!
Now this new generation... I think we're gonna all have to debadge our XJ's... have you seen the pathetic excuse for a Jeep as the new Cherokee? Makes me want to scratch my own eyes out... there is NO tribute to the heritage of the XJ line... looks like a damn spaceship to me. lol.
and makes me say this:

I couldn't agree more. The only thing left carrying any sort of torch for the name is the JL, and that has way too much technology in it for me to get excited. I don't think I could talk myself into owning any Jeep newer than a TJ. The good 'ol days of buying a capable rig that you can (have to? LOL) really work on are over.

The XJ is special. The design served its intended purpose for the soccer moms very well for years, and it's continuing on in the enthusiast circles as an excellent platform for upgrades and having it how you want it. In that sense, I suppose it's the last of that breed.

lol...I have a similar sore spot. They are nothing more than a typical average European car, they are a Fiat and not a Jeep. They have now "De-Americanized" the Jeep.
