I understand to each their own and all that... But I will never understand why people take perfectly good impalas, or even camaros and corvettes, lift them as high as they can so they can fit these massive rims under them and just make them look like money spent stupidly... I guess cuz they think it gets them girls? And to me... that is the same as lowering a jeep. LIFT the trucks and SUV's, LOWER the cars and SUV wannabes. I mean if all you're looking for is to be different, walk through the mall with all your clothes on backwards or something.

That thing is so HOT! I had seen that some time ago and forgotten all about it, but man I love that XJ! That's what I was talking about previously when I mentioned an XJ riding at stock height, but with slightly larger rims (17's in this case). Everyone should click that link, it's just absolutely beautiful!

Hey I just bought a 2000 Cherokee Classic and I'm looking to lower it 1 or 2 inches. I already read through the thread and I know you guys don't seem to like it but are there any kits out there? Not the "ghetto" way of lowering either.

to be honest if i saw a lowered jeep of any kind i would most likely mistake it for a rock and end up crawlin all over it.

Lowered jeeps are like people who like Obama...Stupid.

Apparently you have not looked at the banner where it says CHEROKEE FORUM or the pictures showing what this forum is about.

There aren't any kits, but seriously, check out this link. It's not lowered, just has larger rims. Really, click the link and tell me that's not the best looking street XJ you've ever seen...

qwkjeep's Xj is a perfect example of why lowering a jeep or building it for street service shouldn't immediately be linked to "rice" or "ghetto donks". Our little XJs have a great power to weight ratio from the factory, and with the huge community of XJers, many power adding modification have popped up over the years, from a mild intake and exhaust to a full blown stroker buildup with ported and polished head, bored throttle body and a little juice for the track! The vast majority of XJs on the road are stock, unmodified street machines used for day to day a to b transportation, and a huge number of them are 2wd! I wonder if the whole "Trucks MUST BE LIFTED and can NEVER be lowered or built for power!!" crowd hates on the stock XJ owners who probably could care less if they drove an XJ or a Honda CRV? That XJ will always be a street machine regardless. I'd rather see people giving these old trucks love whatever way they can. I agree with sixpacksmile though, I'd love to have a big, uncomfortable obnoxious wheelin XJ sitting right next to a nice clean lowered, stroked, black 2dr/2wd with a grand cherokee leather interior and some mickey thompson 10.5" radial sportsman tires out back sittin right next to it! And that's not a dream, it's a friggin goal in my life!!

It looks ok, I just dont see the fascination. I just dont see the point in lowering a JEEP, its like lifting a Mercedes. Its not something that was meant to be lowered, it was meant to be lifted. Whereas perhaps a BMW or another sports car would be your best bet if thats what you are into. Its just not the right tool for the job.

And also, I wouldent say the vast majority of XJ's are stock on-roaders. By where I live for maybe every 4 stock XJ's I see maybe 1 lifted, which isnt a Majority, but its still pretty impressive. And also less than like 5% of XJs were 2wd, I looked it up, and almost all of them were sold in the south.

I think you're going to the other extreme... nobody said not to add power... what good would power do in a slammed jeep anyway though? make sure you bounce the body off the pavement alot? keep it around stock height like that qwkjeep if it's a 2 wheel drive and rod the hell out of it. honestly slamming any vehicle has absolutely no purpose at all except looks. There's just no benefits to it. Now when you think jeep... you think Capability. Everything on a jeep is about functionality. That's how the designers intended it. Now I can see slamming a 64 impala if you're into that whole "gangsta" click. but I don't see a slammed xj winning any car shows, or picking up any women. Face it guys. Ghetto chicks like caddilacs, trailer park chicks like mudders and camaros, and rich chicks like 500SL's... sure there's a few exceptions, but for the most part that's the way it is. Not trying to bash you for your ideas. Just want to know why in the hell you would want to?
