so winters coming quick and it will be my first one with the cherokee just wondering how its part time 4wd stacks up with a zjs full time when it comes to dealing with the snow, thanks!

It all depends on your tires, as well. I'm Canadian, so I know snow. ( After all, we're a frozen country, right? )
I'm rocking the nokian hakkapeliitta studded all terrain tires.. I had goodyear studded winters previous to these, and they were crap. I slid all over the place. And it depends on what your roads are like... if they're icy, you'll want to stay in 4x4, but like the above poster I stayed in 2WD for most of the time unless the snow got thick or the roads were icy.

honestly for driving around town with snow, the AWD option on a 242 or better yet a 249 would be best, but for thicker stuff, 4HI is the way to go.

the part time is only for roads that are gravel or compleatly coverd in ice or snow. Its not ment for slushy pavement roads. That being said, in the same conditions where you are using the part time over a full time you should have no difference in the amount of traction you get. That is only if you are using the same tires and have the same weight distribution. Going from a zj to an xj you should feel like you have more control because the zj weighs more.
