But you see I should have to deal with it because I didn't do anything wrong. All my paperwork is accurate, speedo is good and I was NOT speeding. The only thing that was right about his whole report was that I was out past curfew, which curfew is 11 and it was 12:45 when I got picked up and that shouldn't affect my license at all.

you could try making a list of all of your stuff in the jeep like the tires and stuff like if you have the order stuff or receipts or just take pics of it to put together for explanation that the jeep cannot handle that speed with your stuff

they dont need a gun to radar you if your going opposite directions. its an in-dash system, found that out the hard way a month ago. same type of thing happened to me.
they are supposed to get their radar calibrated i heard evey day, maybe its six month idk. ask for a calibration slip, cuz if the radar wasnt calibrated they will throw it out.

My question is why in trhe heck were you using the cruise control in the snow. That is about the dumbest thing you can do with cruise. Even in the rain you should not use it because if the drive tires hydroplane on a puddle or start to spin in the snow the system will sense excessive speed. It will then apply the brakes and you could lose control of the vehicle. It's a big NO NO.

No XJ cruise system I know of can apply the brakes. it will simply back off the throttle to control speed.
Fight the ticket. I once got a ticktet for supposedly going 71 in a 65. Mailed it in not guilty and 3 months later I got a letter back saying it had been dropped and that I did not know anything. But if the cop says he is right and that you were speeding there is not much you can do. Some cops are just on a permanent power trip and when it comes to the word of a cop VS a minor with previous tickets you dont have much of a chance unfortunately..........

i think they calibrate it before each time going out, if i remember from my buddies girl who is a cop in san antonio texas. not 100 percent sure but i think that is what she said once.
also, the one time i wanted to argue a ticket the cop showed up. it was a small texas town and apparently there were no white people in it. the cop said we were stopped because we were speeding. i said how can i be speeding when i'm the 4th car in a line of 5 cars? he said he doesn't care, he saw two whie guys in a car that didn't seem like it was theirs so he pulled us over for speeding. he was right, not my car, my parents. my dad is a pastor and it had a clergy sticker on the windshield, is why he thought it wasn't ours. either way, i didn't get busted for the speed he said i was doing because i went in and argued but i did have to pay for speeding because i told the judge that yes i was speeding, but not how fast he said i was going. i told her how he told us he stopped us cause we were white and everything he said and she said she didn't believe me but cut my ticket down because i did say i was speeding and didn't try to lie and say i was not. i told her i am not going to lie, i was speeding but only as fast as the other cars and i don't lie so i am not afraid of paying for speeding because i did it but i thought the cop should get in trouble for being racist. she said no (of course, once again i was the only white guy in the place) because she thought he wasn't since he was the police chief.
i still think the town is crooked but haven't ever gotten stopped there again.
i go through faster because a blazer cannot catch a bmw, ha ha ha. just playing, i just haven't had to travel through that town since then because i no longer do insurance plumbing tests anymore, luckily i got into a job using the degrees i have near my house.

easy ticket to fight. when you have your court date, bring in the paper work showing your jeep was calibrated, and also request that the officer bring the paper work showing the last time his equipment was calibrated. most stations are required to have their equipment calibrated every 7 months to a year max, and many will skip doing this for 2 years or so because it takes money out of their budget.
also, while during your day in court, ask if the officer remembers using a radar or a lidar detection device. lidar is a very accurate piece of equipment, but is difficult to use because it requires pin-pointing an exact spot from a distance and holding it before a reading can be measured. radar, on the other hand, does not send a direct signal as a lidar gun, and is very often open to other objects interfering with the signal upon return to the device. i fought a ticket one time when i was going 15mph is a 25mph residential all because the cops gun picked up a baseball some kids across the street were throwing in the yard. because of the radar gun being easier to use for the 5-0, many will avoid using lidar and use radar.
set the court date, and if you want, i'll see if i can locate and source the direct information you need to tell the walking bag of bacon bits to **** off. besides, if you were calm and complacent while the cop was trying to be a hard *** because you are a minor, there are a few specific words you can use to let the judge know you feel the ticket was unwarranted further.

I disagree with the majority of the people here. You need to stop breaking the law. Get insurance on all of your vehicles. It's not very hard to keep an insurance card in your vehicle if you really have insurance. Quit breaking curfew. Last but not least, go the speed limit. If you have to speed you should have left for your destination earlier.

Fight it. I come from a small town like you where the cops are power trippin like a meth junkie on a 3 day speed trip. The head cops are marries, (Against the law), and if they don't like you, you're ****ed.
My uncle is a Sgt. on the county police here in springfield, and i asked him about this. Said that the guns are calibrated 6 months. But that's here. So I'm not to sure about your cops.
The more we stand for our rights, the less chance the pigs will have to send us to the slaughter house. That makes sense. Reverse situation joke. L...O...L ^_^

I have mixed emotions about this subject. I have a ton of respect for the law and our officers who risk their lives every day to keep highways, counties and cities safe. But... I also have troopers and sherif officers in my family and I see the double standard these guys live by. My brother in law and father in law can do just about what ever they want. They could be driving 80 in a 55 and if I was following, I would get pulled over. I also lived in Louisiana and have seen the corruption of cops and the power they abuse. Ive seen cops hang out in the mall flirting with jewlery store girls while cars get broke into in the parking lot. What has to be remembered here is they are people with the ability to make bad choices just like a young kid driving a jacked up jeep flying down the street with no insurance card. If you are innocent.. fight it... fight it hard. Understand one thing. Judges know the good cops and the bad. They know who writes tickets for the hell of it and those who do their jobs well. So if your cop is full of **** your judge knows it.

First, The radar set must be cailibrated by independant shop once a year. Second the calibration should be checked with certified tuning forks at the begining and end of the officers shift. There is no requirement to "lock in" the speed of the car on the radar set, some do some dont it is personal preference. They should have a copy of the calibration with them to show the judge if asked either by the judge or accused or accused's attorney.
That being said and out of the way the officers eyes are the speed measuring tool and the radar unit is just to be used as verification too to what the officer has determined the speed of the car to be (not to say that every officer goes by this rule)..... There is no way that a baseball being thrown would register when there is a car in the beam, its a size of the reflective surface thing. also I can promise that at anything over 20 mph at night there is no way to know who, what, or gender of what is driving the other car.

If you read his posts he was not speeding and has had his jeep calibrated for the tires. And he has insurance on it just doesnt have a insurance card in it. Whats wrong with that? I dont have one in my jeep and i have full coverage on it! You have a certain time to show proof of insurance. I got pulled over for no seat belt and didnt have my card and the cop just told me to show it to the clerk where i paid my fine. And last but not least if the kid is out past curfew so what. Ohio is a dumb state i live here too, and have been warned about being out past curfew when i was 16. Sometimes you cant help it to be out past curfew. Things dont go as planned sometimes. I mean come on ohio cops are out to get anyone for the dumbest reasons. We are one of the few who have the no front plate law, which i have been pulled over for more than 10 times with no ticket. If it was such a big law then why havent i got one yet. Thats just for example. Any way for the kid that posted this, I would fight it. I know how it is. If you fight it sometimes you win sometimes not. But good luck.

RPD has it...Not all agencies require officers to lock in radar. Here's the thing OP, I wasn't in your vehicle, I don't know if you were speeding or if you were going the speed limit. If you feel you were wronged and you can prove it, good for you. However, it is hard to fight a speeding ticket. Did you happen to note traffic conditions? How many cars were behind you? Did the officer detect your speed while he crested the hill or after he had crested the hill? Where on the hill were you? If you try to take your argument from this angle, you may not win because most newer police vehicles have cameras - these cameras activate once emergency signaling equipment is activated, they also record 30-90 seconds prior to activation of lights/siren...It is possible that the officer would be able to use this to show the magistrate where he detected your speed. The best thing to do would be to pay the fine, but talk to the magistrate about your options with this situation. Good luck.

One time my jeep was a little muddy just pulled out of the movie theater and a cop followed me to the stop signIi was like really almost stopped, so he pulled me over after the stop sign came over I just bought my jeep didnt have registration or insurance paper work (i did have insurance on my jeep) so he thought I went through the mud behind the theater and thats private property and didnt stop, and didnt have my paper work. He gave me a warning and no tickets i was lucky.
