yes i was using my cruise control. yes i did have my big tires on. yes we did get about 3 feet of snow but that was a few days prior to the ticket. i kept the tires on because we are supposed to be getting more snow. the roads were clear. it went like this, i was half way up the hill when the cop came over the top of the hill in the opposite direction. he went to the bottom of the hill where i saw him start to slow down then i crested the hill. apparently he turned around in the housing development at the bottom of the hill and came after me. i was the only car out on the road besides him. i went to the police station and they said that curfew only applies to minors that are in school. yes i am a minor but i graduated early (skipped 12th grade) so the curfew part is thrown out. the only thing i could think of is less than 50 yards of where the cop turned around is a small airport. and airports use radar to track airplanes. maybe it was screwing with his gun? also today when i was picking up my girlfriend from school, the same cop was on crossing guard duty at her school. he reconized my jeep, lifted up his sunglasses, and gave me an evil smirk and waved at me. i was so tempted to shoot snow at him with my tires but i dont want anymore trouble with cops.

you know, you can be a dick to them verbally and there is nothing they can do about it. hell, you can flick them off and they can't do a damn thing. i don't condone it, but you can get away with it. only thing you can't do is spit on them ( apparently, spitting on anybody can be considered attempting murder if they press charges), physically push them, or do damage to their cruiser.

Hold your horses Overbearing McJump-to-conclusions.

Did you read his posts? I'm not saying he's innocent, but just because he's 17 doesn't mean ****. I know 17 yr olds that are more honest, and mature than some adults.

Just don't be so harsh on him because he's 17, and got a ticket. Hell, I got a reckless driving ticket this past fall. Long story, but the cop didn't witness it. Was reported. Ended up gettin an improper lane usage ticket. (Reeeeeaaaaaalllllyyyy good lawyer. And 1st offense)

I'm behind you all the way boardmanXJ.

This is actually wrong,
police are to test there guns daily before the start of there shift. My wife is a police officer. So what you do is request proof of that calibration and if they cant produce it the judge throws the ticket out. sorry if this been talked about already.

Yeah yeah yeah... there are lots of good cops, doing their jobs, yadda yadda yadda. But that's why we need to keep the over-zealous ones in check. It only takes a couple meetings with the wrong officers before you have a bad taste in your mouth. Checks and balances keep them in line.
I got a ticket for my window tint only and later found out that they cannot pull you over for tinting alone! $120 ticket. Been pulled over several times never had anything said to me about window tint.

As for the speeding ticket, did you have anyone riding with you that could go to court with you and act as a witness? Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Possibly, I am 25 and have had a fair share of speeding tickets when I was a teenager. Higher insurance and different priorities have since taught me that I would rather spend my money upgrading the jeep than paying to drive it. However, I still get the most random tickets. 1: failure to dim headlights (4 lane hwy with concrete divider) 2: Improper passing (the motorcycle was stopped on the side of the road, took it to court and won) 3: Window tint (when not a primary offense) 4: snow covering my license plate.

your learning but still not there yet ,i have had tickets for the window tint , and snow on the plate and boy did that tick me off......now i make sure i wipe the snow off the plates,no tint on the front side windows....even though there little things there still excuses for a cop to pull you over ..if you dont want to get pulled over dont give them a reason to pull you over ,cause there are dik cops out there looking to pull you over for no reason ,but if dont give them a reason to pull you over they wont, and cant...even the little things like a liscene plate bulb

first off, as far as testing equiptment goes, that is different for every state, and 99% of the time, each township/county. And as far as fighting the ticket goes, you should fight ANY ticket you get, because majority of the time, if your nice in court the judge will lower it which is better then nothing. Just clean yourself up all nice and wear a button down shirt when you go, be polite, and it should get lowered. And as far as the 62 in a 45 goes, if your dead positive you were doin the speed limit, is it possible the cop messed up and was going 17mph when he was coming towards you but had the radar detector set to the wrong setting or used hte wrong detector? And im not sure of the laws in ohio, but in PA only state troopers can use radar on highways, back roads and country roads and what not the only way they can clock you is with vascar, which is timing you with a "stop watch" from point a to point b or they can follow behind you and use their speed as your speed, although (this wouldnt aply to your case most likely) they started using EnRad, which is like vascar but has electronic sensors that time you, its very accurate and hard to beat if you are speeding. And on the ticket it should state when the radar device was last tested.

im not so worried about paying the ticket if it as that simple. yes it would upset me alot and defiantly delay the jeep projects but i wouldnt be as mad as i am. The problem is that between 15-20 mph over the speedlimit is wreckless driving and in ohio if you are a minor and "wreckless driving" they take your license. first time in the speed trap, i will admit it was my fault and yes i was speeding, the state took my license for 3 months. judge said if it happens again within 6 months i will loose it for 9-12 months. so its not as easy as paying the ticket. i have to go to court no matter what since im a minor, and its juevenille court. but what im wondering is that the court date will be set after my 18th birthday and after you become an adult they dont take your license anymore just stick you with a hefty fine. but would i be tried as a minor since it happened when i was 17 or will i be tried as an adult since my court date will be after my birthday and i will be in court and convicted as an adult? and thanks to everyone that is behind me! and thanks to everyone with advice! it really does calm my nerves to know that im not the only to think i have been wronged in this situation.

yeah, if you are already pulled over and doing it, they will surly write extras on there because you are getting under their skin, in the sense. claim things like "disorderly conduct" or some other nonsense. but, if you are just going by, say, just walking on the side walk, you can say whatever you want to them and they can't do anything legally. if you are drunk or obviously stoned then they can nail you with whatever claims they want, but if you are as sober as a bird, they have nothing on you.
