My friend wanted me to drive his XJ to get his mom some groceries because he didn't have his driver license yet. As soon as I got behind the wheel, I loved it. I started searching Craigslist for one every day. Finally I found this 1999 gunmetal pearl one.
The funny thing is, I never bought a Jeep to make it an offroader. It just sort of happened .
Now I see it as terrifically fun and I guess that is what made me love it!

My family has only bought Cherokees. So its like a tradition, except I'm the first one to lift mine. Altogether we've owned maybe 15 cherokees.

I always like Jeeps ever since the jeepster. Which where around when I was growing up. Cj's with a fiberglass tub & 350's or the Buick turbo V6 where common place also. But this XJ was in my family for 14 years before I inherited it. So I was familiar with it.

Found a rough 93 w no floors, but that ran excellent and had only 165K. We bought it for a beater to last us one winter (we hoped). Neither of us had owned a Jeep before, and ive always disliked the look of Wranglers. Well this was late 2009 and three years later the damned thing is still going strong. It was never pretty, and the rust has gotten worse. She's ugly, but NEVER let us down and NEVER got stuck in it.
I decided after year 2 that i needed one for myself. One a little nicer that i would make into a very capable machine little by little. And then once i actually got MINE, it was all over. I miss it when i take my other MUCH "NICER" car to work.

in highschool alot of guys had lifted xj's, i always liked the look of them but didnt want to be a follower. So I bought a 88 ranger and ended up dumping my time and money into that doing a engine swap and a 6.5" with a bunch of other goodies. It was my baby all through school and as soon as it was out I sold my truck and bought a 99 xj, lifted it and rolled it not soon after. just got another one about a month ago now so all my time is taken again.

Mine is probably from seeing them on American Films and tv programmes, the classic shape and individuality.
And over here an xj is not to be seen too often.

I love rare cars. I had a '67 VW Squareback for years. I loved that no one knew what it was! Over here, especially in my part of the country, XJ's are a dime a dozen. I got mine for free, if that tells you anything.

I had a 1990 in high school. Went to college and bought a yj. The yj was hardcore miserable haha so I sold it and bought my 1993 xj. Im never going back to a wrangler. They made Cherokees right. Its a pity they discontinued them in a way but awesome in many more ways.

After out growing the Cj as a daily driver and then seeing some XJ pics like this, I was sold. I knew what to go shopping for.
