My love for the XJ started back in '98. I was working a job that involved a lot of rough mountain road driving. We had XJs, Broncos, Explorers, rangers, and s10s. None of them felt as good as the xj in terms of capability and power, especially on really bad roads. For whatever reason, the XJs never got flat tires either.

The lines of her magnificent body . In high school I was into slammed imports, one day for some reason I took my Slammed integra and tryed to cross a field, didn't work so well, and that's when it hit me, why am I driving a vehicle that's road only, since when did I like roads anyways? Bought my first xj, 95 rusty but ran, lifted it with big tires, now I'm buying my second one here in a month or two,( 95 of course) to put my first in surgery so she will last much longer!

i went on off roading trips with a group and there were a good number of XJs. i was told they were cheap and good off roaders. eventually i got an XJ during high school but really wanted a truck so i went for an MJ.
so yeah, basically because they are cheap and perform well. i wouldn't mind a tacoma at all but i can't afford one.

ive always been into old lifted fords with 38s or bigger, had a few and a few broncos of all generations but i bought a 96 xj for a winter beater one year ( floors were gone) cheap and that was it.....it had over 200 thousand on it and ran like it was brand new, solid front axle, 4 doors, and a decent amount of room behind the rear seat...it would go just about anywhere in stock trim, never got stuck and never let me down....10 years later im on my 4th xj build, and my wife also have a lifted 01 ( great family weekend wheeler).....the 96 i originally bought is owned by a friend and has over 300 thousand on it now and going strong but he did replace the floors in it

They look nice at any angle
more capable than most vehicles even in stock configuration
simple ergonomics
they don't weigh too much
jeep reliability
I love the boxy look

XXXpedition article in 4wparts magazine years ago. Blue XJ that wheeled all over the Aussie land. Kind of made me want one. Ditched the ford explorer (first car at 15) and got an XJ...jeeping 9 years since!

Perfect winter daily driver. I got tired of getting stuck in the snow with my Dodge B250wagon or my Chevy C20 so I bought 1 1990 XJ with 4x4 an voila a whole winter without getting stuck.
Then why not an MJ with 4x4 so I can haul things to the dump and other things. One thing lead to another so now I have a few XJ´s and MJ´s for daily drivers and rebuilding and only use my summer car in the summer.
And the fuel costs played a big part in it also, over $2.15 a litre here.

i have always been big into cars, my dad brought me to drag tracks since i was old enough to remeber, so i started with a 90 mustang gt, then needed a truck so i bought a 1990 bronco with 6" life and 35" tires, the motor blew in it so i took my motor out of the stang and am currently putting it in the bronco and i sold the mustang for a rolling chassis, not having a car and being married with a son on the way i bought a 1994 xj 4door with a 4.0ho aw4 4.5" lift and 33"ats for $1500, i really liked in test driving it on the streets a happy medium between a small car and a bulky bronco, and yet still 4 door to bring the family along. the next off weekend i had my friend asked if i wanted to go mudding as a passanger, trying to include me still although i blew the bronco motor and not knowing i had the jeep, so i brought the xj, wound up bringing a friend , 1st time off roading and a week later bought a jeep of his own, and wound up pulling out my buddy in his truck, after that night i was hooked, ordered a full exhaust, got part store off road lights, ordered a accel tune up kit. And going to fall in love with Alice , engraved to the steering wheel when i purchased her, all over again tomorrow night when i go wheeling
not to mention my $1500 xj kicks my $3500 bronco in the *****
