I currently have a jvc 50 watt x 4 head unit and 4 6.5" kenwood 3 way speakers. The head unit is 22 watt x 4 (RMS) and the speakers are each 70 watt (RMS). I get a minor crackling popping sound when it gets to a certain volume level, anyway i talked to a car audio guy and he said i need an amplifier, do you agree? (ON A SIDE NOTE, I PUT THE STOCK SPEAKER GRILLS AND DOOR PANELS ON OVER THE SPEAKERS AND THEY MADE CONTACT WITH THE TWEETER AND MID THAT STICKS OUT OF THE SPEAKER. I havent been playing the speakers much though because I just put it in. Would that damage the speaker causing it to crackle and pop at a certain sound level??) Also, what wattage amplifier should i run.....not wanting to spend much money btw. Thanks

If you really want to try an amp, it;s not that hard to install and if you don't like it you can take it back. you can also always buy a better head unit.

i wouldn't push over 50w RMS through those speakers or you will get clipping.
try playing with the EQ on the head unit and see if you are clipping right now. thats kind of what it sounds like to me.

I have Pioneer 6.5 two way in front and 5.25 two way in back. $50 for each pair from Crutchfield. Love them. Came with wire harness adapters and loads of instructions. Free shipping too!

I have a jvc head unit and it keeps saying "miswiring check wiring then reset head unit".... WELL, apparently i'm supposed to check the speaker terminals, but everything is wired correctly... It happened earlier and I fixed it just by detaching the aftermarket wiring harness and reattaching it, but this time it won't work. Any ideas? PLease HeLp!!!

2 BRAND NEW (as in came out last week new) Rockford Fosgate P12412 Subwoofers

Sounds amazing, can't get any better really. It also drowns out all the rattles, squeaks, and exhaust drone that my XJ has.

Pioneer HU
mismatched fronts
Polk db series outback
Clarion 320w RMS 2ch
2x 10" clarions (idk why idk the series)
Subs and amp are matched and it sounds good. Wish I had a good db meter but I'd guess like 120ish? My two alpine s-types were louder, but one started to split where voice coil and cone meet.. But that one was running solo and bridged down to 1ohm, possibly less... headlights all but shut off!
