Speakers crackling
I have only had my 95 XJ for a little over a month. One of the first things I did was buy new speakers front and rear because I was sure the old ones were shot.
After the instal the speakers sounded better, but at higher volume there is a cracking sound when mid's and high's hit in the music, not so much on the bass. The tweeters are fine and the rest of the speakers are brand new. It has an after market cd player in it and when I pulled it out there are some wierd looking wiring bandaids going on. I am guessing there is a positive and negative mixed but I want to get some feed back before I go tearing into my wiring.
I am no electrician so am I on the right track? Or could it be something else?
Thanks

Fixed it!!!! I don't know what it was exactly because I cut out everything until I was down to the stock wires coming out of the dash and the harness for the cd player.
For whatever reason, the p.o. had spliced in extentions from the harness to the stock wires that had crazy tape, wire nuts, connectors, etc.... and spare wires just hanging out there.
Took maybe half an hour, now I can crank it up as loud as it goes and no crackling.
