Spray on bed liner on half of XJ
So I've been planning on bed lining my entire Jeep for some time now. I was going to get 3 gallons and roll it on. Well my Jeep was keyed recently. From front to back on the passenger side. It's a black Jeep and it's in the middle of the Jeep (going horizontal). I'm just going to sand and bed line half the Jeep. I was wondering how many cans of spray, and which bed liner works best for this. I think it's like 10 cans, right? And I know the outcome is as only good as the prep, so any tips on prep and sanding?
Sorry if I forgot anything, still a little upset it was keyed.
Cheers
For $120 with free shipping, I can buy 10 cans of Duplicolor bed liner off this site.

I did this a few years ago. Did the entire outside with herculiner. I sprayed it on rather than rolling it. It quickly faded to grey but can easily be spray painted.

As for prep, I took a flapper disc and a cut off wheel, a few gallons of paint thinner... Took me a good day and half to get it down to bare metal. It's held up better than expected after 2 years.

OK sweet. I forgot to mention that my XJ will be becoming a pure trail rig and will be in a garage when not being wheeled. So it doesn't have to look amazing. I'll do a really good prep job, then just do lite coats of liner. Also, I'd just be doing half the vehicle and maybe the hood. So half to full day for prep?
Thanks for the pics

I wouldnt dick around with that dupiliner crap.
Id either not do it.. or get a higher quality liner.
Herculiner from o'reilly can be had for a reasonable price..
Hell..the rustoleum spray on from walmart is way better than that dupicolor garbage.

Yeah don't use those can. Trust me they're POSs lol use monstaliner or hurculiner if you want to do a roll on. The only spray I would recommend for anyone would be an actual air gun application. Do you have a Facebook? There was a thread on this yesterday the XJ MJ proud group. Oh and I hurculiner'd mine three years ago and it's help up great. 90% of it is the prep

x2. Herculiner actually holds up pretty damn well. It took me about 2 1/2 gallons to do the entire XJ. You could probably get by with 1 1/4. Depending on where you live you might want to reconsider the hood, it actually acts as a pretty good insulator, trapping the heat under the hood. Wasn't an issue until I moved to Cali, hood vents helped a lot.

Maybe I'll go with the roll on method like I originally planned.. Since I'm only doing half, I don't need to spend like $300 on 3 gallons of liner. I'll forget about the hood, that could be an issue. I just figured if someone wants to key my vehicle again, they'll go to the hood since the bed liner will be on the body lol.
So roll on Herculiner is the way to go then?

Am I missing the amount that this comes with? If it's enough for a truck bed, will that be enough for half the XJ on both sides? From like above the fender line across?

raptor liner is a bit more pricey, but I wish I would have gone with it instead. It seems to be a lot smoother, IE won't give you road rash if you happen to scrape your arm on your rig... As for the roll on herculiner I really can't say, I sprayed it on. Herculiner can be picked up for $75 for a gallon, and $25 per a quart. That would be enough for your application.
