meh... I like my Stroker. Runs great, plenty of power and everything is still XJ (easy to work on/fix for me). If I had all the cash in the world, I would do a LS1.

Taking everything into consideration about the XJ I decided to keep a stock displacement engine and do a very good rebuild then go another 300,000 mi. or so on it.

You wanna play big, you gotta pay big

Spent $2500 on my stroker, plus a bunch more along the way as I found things needing attention as I went. I am also replacing a ton of other components while I'm doing the swap. CPS, flexplate, trans cooler lines, plus a bunch of other stuff...I figure as long as I'm in there, do it now. I'd say I'm closer to $4K now...the header was around $440 alone...and I did this on the cheap...most strokers will cost you upwards of $5K. Without labor.

Well ill stick with my 4.0 for now lol I'm just going to get the basics done first like you all say , I'm going to fix the rust holes, get my valve cover gasket , Distributer cap an rotor, a small lift 1.5 - 2 a spectre cowl intake , an some nice tires , an fender triming , think she will be ready for the trails after that?

A used truck 5.3 and 4l60 your looking 1500 to 3 grand depending where you get it.The t case you could use a np241 about 100 used or upgrade to a np205 or dana 300 both of those you should add a grand. The motor mounts are 218 the radiator 489 bucks add in the fuel system,Drive shafts and exhaust you can peak 6k in parts. Then you got labor its a easy 30 hours or more to do the swap and have it look good.

The stock 4.0 makes enough torque,A xj with 33s or 35s built right can be a amazing trail jeep.If you want something faster and 4x4 you should think about a pickup or full size blazer or bronco. Those are already v8 and you can take out a 350 and drop in a 383 easy,Or for a ford pull a 302 for a 347.
