Hey guys So i have my 2000 Xj Sport. And like I've heard many people loose their door speakers. well i bypassed this buy mounting Smaller speakers on the Columns and hiding the wiring. They look factory so i'm not worried. But i have a Sub-woofer from a home theater system to. And i don't know how to get power to it. I've hooked it up to the battery. And ive hooked it up to my amps battery/Ground inputs where the wires lead in from the battery. No power. I tested the sub-woofer and it does in fact work. Just can't get power to it. Any suggestions? Ill post pictures of my setup if needed.

If it's a home theater sub woofer that requires electricity to work, it needs 110 AC voltage, not 12 volt DC.

Uh your trying to run a home sub in your car? The voltage isnt the same, your home puts out 110 volts and is direct AC power. Your truck puts out 12v and is DC power. You need a power inverter to make it work and even then your battery wont like it very much.

Yeah but I don't drive around rattling The pop can in my muffler and my license plate off my Bracket. Not Hating on Honda's either cause I've driven a 2008 Si and a 99 lx And they ride nice and great MPG. It's when the get in the hands of teenager's that think it's cool to Sound like a indian rain tube and have purty lights under their car.

A home theater system has an inverter to turn the ac from home to dc to power the speakers, i have 3 guitar amps, computer speakers and a tv theater system that all do this. Most home electrics have built in converters in order to work, he could have taken the speaker out of the system which would be dc.
even though he probably didnt take just the speaker

Hey, What the Heck. To each their own. I had a pair of Altec's in the back of a van, Back in the 70's. Now days in most home surround systems. It's the enclosure that does most of the work for the sub. And the speaker is relatively small, as compared to an automotive sub woofer. So even if you where to pull the sub woofer out. It might not sound that good. It home for a surround system, I have the Bose Accoumass II, And the size of the sub. Is only 6" It sound great, And I love them. But the thought of putting them in my XJ, Never occurred to me. If your putting your XJ through that much water, It won't be long before your floorboards are gone. Not to mention the starter, alternator, and other important electrical components. You'll look like the Flintstones.

First incorrect impedance speakers and wrong voltage amps not to mention that home theater sub is powered so your amplifying it twice (read: explosion) now we have people talking about how good bose is. This thread sucks.

Don't care for Bose? To each their own. To me, they sound great, And I love them. Owned them for about 12 years now. Wouldn't get rid of them for nothing. Replaced four Pioneer HPM 100's with them.

Pioneer isn't great either. I'm surprised you could stand bose after owning Altecs from the 70s..

Home theater speakers are generally 8 ohms vs car stuff is generally 4ohms. A 8ohm sub will pull half of the watts from a amp than a 4 ohm will. But other than that it would work just fine. The 110 amp that connected to box if it's a powered home sub is another story.

Higher impedance speakers generally sound better. It's easier to get the required power to an 8ohm speaker from an outlet though than it is a car battery.
