Default Taillight Tint Question

So I finally picked up the VHT spray and some sandpaper, 800 grit was the highest I could find, will that work? I don't need help knowing what to do, I've done my searches and know what to do, I just have a question on the clear coat process. How soon do I have to apply the clear coats? Can it be a few days? I know it's for protecting it, so is it a bad idea to have it unprotected? I ask because tomorrow is one of the few days I have off, and I'll be busy this weekend, and I'd like to just sand down my lights and spray them. I forgot to pick up the clear coat spray, and because I live in a wonderful county, they don't sell spray paint period. I can probably buy a roll on clear coat or something similar, and do that tomorrow as well. That would work, right?

Sorry for the long post. I'm wondering if 800 grit sandpaper will work, and can I use a roll on type clear coat, opposed to spray?

Cheers

Not sure about roll on...nmm I would assume it would work you would probaly have to sand that more... I let mine cure for 24 hrs before I clear coated with 2 coats

So sanding isn't needed? I can just spray over and be fine? Does it chip over time?

Thanks

Yup, I never sanded mine and they turned out perfect. Ive had them painted for about 8 months now and they haven't faded or chipped. I've taken it through the car wash also. But so far, no problems. Ive been very satisfied with the product

Awesome! I'll definitely try that then. Can't hurt right? Worse case scenario, I have to (maybe) get better sandpaper and some clearcoat stuff.

I'll be sure to take before and after pics tomorrow.

Thanks!

And the good thing about not sanding them is that if u ever have to get the paint off, all u need to do is put some paint thinner on them and they will be back to original. If u Sand them and then take the paint off, the lights r gonna be scratched to hell. I guess u could clear coat them, but I never thought about doin mine. They looked fine with out clear coat. But post pics and lets see how they turn out!

I'll definitely look into that. I actually have to replace my reverse lights, they've been out for a little while. Shhhhh.

Here's what they look like with the lights on though.
