Theft recovery steering column help
I have a 99 Cherokee and I'm trying to figure out how to get the top part of my steering column off. The steering wheel is removed, and I'm left with a broken bracket that the key tumbler assembly would normally plug into. I can't get this cast aluminum collar off. Please advise

the aluminum housing that the Tumblr goes into has been damaged. This aluminum casting is independent from the steering column. It appears to have been pressed on.

Thank you for ur time; however, the casting and the column are two separate pieces. It appears to be held on by some sort of retaining ring that can be seen in this photo. I can move it ( the casting) ever so slightly and the entire casting is independent from the column. In this photo I see three pieces, the steering shaft, the aluminum casting in question, and some type of black ring. Please assess and advise.

when I probe the black ring with a screwdriver it moves, yet the shaft and casting remain immobilized. I can move the black ring, the casting or the shaft independent from the other two. In all possible combinations they move independent from their counterparts. Thus; three pieces.
is there a Jeep Genie or a Jeep whisper at the ready?
Ahh this SUCKS!

It is the outer bearing race holder from what it looks like. Hold on and let me go chase something down. Is that metal, plastic or rubber?
