Really my xj has been the most reliable vehicle I have owned..n to say they are worthless is rediculous and you seriously compared the xj to an explorer that's hilarious

I've owned over 40 jeeps. all of them were unibodies. i know what they are.

they are just as common as exploders and s10 blazers. they're better because they're a not fords or chevys...but they're still nothing but a pile of comanche parts to me.

*shrug* I'll own one here and there, drive it for 3 months, and get bored with it. every MJ I've registered and driven...I still have.

Agreed, my XJ has been really reliable, and most likely saved me from injury in my accident, If I was driving my mothers '06 Nissan Pathfinder or my grandmothers '02 Toyota Camry (both are mostly made of plastic and fiberglass) I might have sustained more severe injuries than just a bump on the side of the head.

Thing not to say to an XJ owner:

Those POS cars are unreliable, they're metal death traps
My reaction: REALLY, SO PLASTIC IS MORE SAFE THAN METAL!

Agreed. I will gladly trade the gas milage of a lighter car for the raw structural integrity of a good old fashioned "metal death trap"

We should really get back on track here, but the "plastic" new cars ARE generally actually safer. They don't hold up as well in an accident because they are designed to absorb the energy of the crash and keep it from getting to the occupants. The outer body panels may be plastic, but the unibody is still steel. Your XJ might hold up better in an accident, but that means your body takes more energy. I don't know about you guys, maybe you have clones, but I'd rather my wife and I have to replace the car than have my wife have to replace me. The 2000 XJ only rates like 3 stars for gov't crash testing.
