thats alright, i went to autozone today to get my fan clutch and some guy i know from my street racing past said to me "you should have bought a 4 runner" i just started laughing and i responded "why would i do that when my jeep runs?" then some guy in autozone had to remark "chrysler sucks ***" i shook my head and said "yea chrysler sucks soo much *** mine has 221k on it all original huh pretty good to me dont ya think bet ur mustang hasnt broken down a million times before it hit 100k lol"
Now, without further adeu:
After stating that I wished to sell my DD '07 F-150 in favor of a more fuel efficient mode of transportation, my lady asked "why don't you sell the Jeep instead?! The truck is 4x4- you can go offroading in that!" (Mind you I've owned my Jeep for about 10 years now. Selling it just ain't gonna happen.)
One of the guys I work with asked if I was selling my Jeep, and I said "Hell no! I've got way too much time and money invested in that thing!" To which he replied "money into WHAT?! Big tires? They can't be that expensive!"
Another coworker with a WJ said he was planning on doing a body lift...
"4.0 litre... Isn't that a Ford engine?"
Also, whenever I tell people I bought it as a 2wd, they'll interrupt me mid-sentence to look underneath in disbelief and say "NO! This is 4WD!!!"

i was at my parents house on their computer looking at wheeling pics on JF and my dad lurking behind me says, "jeeps cant do that!" like all the pictures are photoshopped or something. im like ..... "well how the hell am i looking at them right now? you do know jeeps set the standard in offroad capability dont you?" it actually kinda pissed me off.
now my dad use to go to the mud hole and watch dodges and fords do the tug-o-war and truck pulls, i guess to him "offroad capability" is a ford with 10 inch lift and 44s pulling other big *** trucks through the mud.

Here in Roswell we have a set of salt flats. Stuff is like concrete! Go out with some buddies one night, one in an 07 1500 2wd, Mud tires, no lift or nothing. Anyways he goes first, makes it maybe 200 yards before he lets off the throttle and his buried. Next is my good friend in his completley stock 97 Ranger. Makes it 150, sees a big cactus and lets off throttle and is buried. My XJ is stock heighth at the time, no first gear in it, had some Maxxis Buckshots on it. Friend in 07 1500 is all about full size, says "You won't get 50 yards in that heap of ***". I roll out in 2nd just cruising it, make it to my good friend in the 97 Ranger. Hook up and haul him out of the soup. Next I go to my other friend and he tells me "So you can make it this far and keep going, but there's no way you can pull my truck out" Hook up to him and ease out in 2nd and cruise it for like 50 yards. Then floored the throttle and left salty mud all over his truck. Reasoning wasn't to soak his clean truck in salty mud though...oh no...It was cuz I made a "rookie" mistake and hooked my strap up to his "fascia". Ripped it clean *** off and haven't spoke to him since then.
Next is when you go into a parts store, order say a lift strut for the rear hatch door and they ask "2 or 4 wd"? I know the computer has them ask, but really?

Went to the parts store a while back to get a new serpentine belt. I tell the guy at the counter what I needed and that it was for a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport. He asked me if it was a regular Cherokee and I said yes. I thought OK, I guess I'm not going to have all of the problem the other guys on CF have with parts stores. The next thing he asks is "V6 or V8". I shot him this look like WTF are you talking about?! Cherokee's don't have V6s or V8s! I looked at the computer...he clicked Grand Cherokee instead of cherokee...I told him this mistake and he said "Yeah, you said regular Cherokee, that's what I clicked!" For five minutes after this he tried to convince me that he was correct and that the Grand Cherokee was a Regular Cherokee, and the part I needed was for a "Box Cherokee".
Does anybody else here share my anger!

As for the jeep wave, I usually only wave to lifted or modded jeeps. If I waved to every jeep my arm would probably get tired!

XJs actually came with V6s back in the 80s. The larger engine option up until 1987 was the GM 2.8 V6. It was underpowered and it looks hilarious in the engine bay because of how small it was.

The reason is just like the XJ's/ZJ's did in there time the 4dr JK hit a different market of consumer.. Market A is those who buy a jeep to build it/off road it and understand what it means to own a jeep.. They are the group of people that will wave to you.. Market B has been refered to as the soccer mom market.. These are the people that buy the 4dr JK or back in the 90's would have been the XJ's/ZJ's. Well pre 90's in the case of the XJ.. Because of that market B XJ/ZJ owners of market A as manny of you know joke around about the XJ being the most capable grocery getter sold today..
So how does this effect the wave.. Well esentially because the market was flooded Consumer B who doesn't understand the Jeep thing the wave amongst jeep owners was no lost but you were left to pick your spots.. There are a ton of stock XJ and ZJ's on the market that your soccer mom will use to trasport there groceries, there kids, and themselves just to get from point a to point b.. Leaving people in the jeep world who have been modified or in a 2dr wrangler to not engage the wave themselves.. But instead let the person in the stock XJ, ZJ, 4dr JK engage the wave on them..
The short story of it is consumer Market B diluted Market A thus those in consumer market A not engaging a wave upon every stock XJ, ZJ, and 4dr JK that is seen on the road as you drive along..
