here's another thing, similar to the auto parts clerks asking "cherokee or grand cherokee?". When I replaced my stereo, I needed a wiring harness. Best Buy had em for the same price as anywhere online, so I went there to get it. I brought it home, took my dash apart, went to start plugging it in and it wouldn't fit. I drove up to Best Buy and told the dude it was wrong, and he started arguing with me about it. He said "alright man, just pull your car around to the garage". When I did, he said "ohhhh you got a regular cherokee!"

No ****, that's why I didn't say grand cherokee -___-
that's the first thing everyone assumes is that its a grand cherokee.. Todays day and age people are looking for comfort in a vehicle whether it be a chevy or a jeep. or anything else for that matter. Grands came a little nicer and they are still making them. This is why even though it sucks to be asked if its a grand or not, atleast your asked and you get the right part from the beginning!

What is with everyone thinking every engine is a V configuration??? LOL

for every "regular" cherokee for sale out here, there are a good 20 or so on craigslist...

And about half the non-grand cherokees are 2x4

I honestly don't even think most people understand why the letter V was chosen for V6, V8, etc. People are dumb.

Hate to tell you but "Technically" they may be right. I know a couple of people in the UK and they call pretty much all SUV's that are offroad capable Jeeps, I was talking to my one buddy a while back (who is an auto mechanic and prevalent off roader) and told him how I bought a Jeep. The next thing he asked was "Well, what did you get? A toyo, a Land Rover, a Nissan? and I just said, "No, A JEEP, you know like the US auto manufacturer?" He was kinda confused because I got a little bit mad at him for it until he explained to me that they call most SUVs Jeeps.

Edit: I just heard this 5 minutes ago from my grandmother: She said because my Jeep is always needing to be fixed that I should trade it in and get a car instead. OK so a fuel pump (little bit weak, will be needing a replacement in the future), a spindle rethreading (that is going to be done for free by a family member) and idle issues that are probably just the result of a needed throttle body cleaning....I really HATE my family and have a few choice words for them......

I just got my tires put on (3" lift and 31x10.50) and went down the road to a shop to get an alignment done. I walk in the door and the backwoods redneck "head mechanic" says "you look like you just took a time machine from the 70s. thats a beefed up station wagon"

I said "well, you just lost my business for good".

Called a parts store to inquire about some prices and I tell buddy it's for a 99 jeep Cherokee. He says "what kind" ... I say uh Cherokee , 4.0 . He says again "uh yeah, what kind??" I say well it's a limited. And he tells me "I don't mean what the badge says on it" and goes on to tell me that it's not a model. and I sigh and say ok well sport. And then he pauses and says "classic?" Which perplexes me as how he would consider neither a sport or limited a cherokee but classic was the right answer. I suppressed all urges to explain a few things to this "expert", got my quote, and obviously went to different store. The thing that upset me the most was that I called a place that specializes in mopar.

That's the worst. Some places have it in their system as a Cherokee, some places have it as a Cherokee Sport, and some places have a Cherokee Classic.

Those are trims, not models! It's a Cherokee, and there is a grand Cherokee.

It's not like you call the movie The Matrix 1 just because The Matrix 2 and 3 came out

Worst is door questions..oh my god. I just had this conversation with some random dude in the parking lot:

"hey dude what happened to your doors?"

I took them off.

"so you broke it."

Yep thats exactly what I did. I broke my doors.

"well what are you going to do when it rains?"

Well I actually have this little thing that when it rains it drops down kinda like a garage door but plastic.

"thats sweet, where'd you get it?"

China.

I think his mom and dad are also his aunt and uncle..
