Ill sell you a 2000 2 door XJ, 4x4 for $3k. lol
I wouldnt personally buy a salvaged titled Jeep..yet alone any other vehicle. It loses value instantly b/c of the salvaged name and you cant really sell it for anything. No matter how well it has been rebuilt or how good it looks. Id do some more shoppinf around if I were you.

My '99 is a salvage rebuild. Drives straight. 175k miles on the body. 236k miles on motor. I swapped the lower mileage one out due to horrible rod knock. I've put a Frankenstein lift on it. Cruises great at 65-75 mph. Was ditched in 2010. Front bumper, grill, pass side fender, front and rear doors pass side, pass side glass and fender, and pass side tail light all received damage. PO just ran off in a deep grassy ditch, and slid down onto its side.
It drives really good. You get lucky sometimes.

Think of how many of us have purchased what we thought was a good vehicle that had a clean title, only to find the floor boards completely rusted out. There are just as many clean titled wrecks out there as reliable vehicles with a salvage title. Just something to think about.

But every salvage title car I've ever driven had some kind of weird driving characteristics thats just my experience. Alot of times auto body shops do alot of band aiding when fixing salvage titles. They rarely completely tear down and "Rebuild" the vehicle to even close to oem standards. Technically they cant, because it would take to much time and money which they would'nt get back.(Depending on the extent of the impact and damage)
However if its just been stolen or vandalized then yeah expect to pay more for it because theres less time and money behind the salvage....

ok let me chime in, & toss a monkey wrench into this.
I have been around the automotive scene for 30 years, I usually dont care what a car fax says, I put no stock into it at all, seriously, I use my eyes to check the vehicle out.
if you think that because it has a clean car fax thats all is well, then maybe I have some swamp land to sell you. people wouldn't believe how much I have seen with totally clean car faxes. I know a rolled truck with a clean carfax, the owner was drunk flipped on a back road, called a friend who flipped it back over, hauled it to a small body shop that put a roof clip & no records exist.
I looked at a beautiful reworked Toyota truck 2 years ago, that had a clean car fax, & I asked the dealer about the front clip job, & then he opened up & told me about it as he personally knew the owner, but until I inquired, it had a clean record. was trying to get it for wife, but was within $500 of agreeing, & wife found a cheaper truck, but stil regrets not getting that one. the truck we got, needed a few repairs, & it uses more gas, & I hate riding passenger in it as it is uncomfortable to me when I am the passenger, however for the driver it is ok.
I was at several dealerships looking for a Jeep & saw several vehicles that salesman said had a clean carfax & I could obviously tell have been wrecked, most repair shops do not go the extra mile to make it nearly impossible to see or know, & some dont have the ability.
I worked at a dealer both as a mechanic, & a body man for quite a few years, & saw many program cars that were bought at auction that were "clean" but had plenty of previous damage, just never ran through the system. no police reports, or insurance claims, nor larger body shops, & a clean vehicle.
would I buy a previously damaged vehicle? or a clipped vehicle, IN A NEW YORK MINUTE!, as long as the price was right, & the work is to my satisfaction.
use your judgement, but price seems high, offer lower money & maybe try to negotiate, but if done right, dont be afraid because of damage history. it may be worth asking around to find an older body man that knows how to look it over & give opinions.
