You're an idiot for even thinking of tinting the whole windshield.

NY State Law:

Under Vehicle and Traffic Law § 375 (12-a)(b)(1) states that a vehicle's front windshield can only be tinted on the top 6 inches. Like the side windows, that window tint must allow for a "light transmittance" of 70 percent. Additionally, if the top 6 inches of the windshield are covered with a tinted film, the film cannot be reflective.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can tint 6 inches from the top. Any more than that is ****ing stupid.

and that even looks ****ing stupid.

Why would you even want to do that? I don't get it.

Is it just me or that picture photoshopped? Look at the front bumper and the cross bars on the roof.

I'm assuming the front bumper looks like that from the front end damage.

From a user's standpoint I can see why someone would want to do that.

Sun gets hot, and sun causes sunburn. There are even people out there with sensitive skin.

From a safety standpoint, I can see why someone would not want to do that.

Makes visibility lower.

Let's calm down.

I'm always calm.

So, people with sensitive skin should limit their visibility and greatly reduce the safety of their vehicle? I don't buy it.

They should apply sunscreen before leaving the house if they're going to burst into flames when the sun touches they're skin.

I prefer safety over comfort. So mine's not tinted at all. I find it hard to see at night sometimes, even with my side windows tinted at 15%. But during the day it's not so bad. Usually I drive with the windows down, so the tint just acts as a way to help block the sun from getting to my leather when it's parked.

I have a friend with a mom that can't be in the sun sunscreen or not for long periods of time and she has limo tint all the way around, but on the windshield she only has it down the first 6 inches.

Reminds me of the car in "Daybreakers".

and that's the way it should be. That's fine. There's medical exemptions for that. Tinting the entire windshield that dark is idiotic.

50% may not be dark, no worse than wearing sunglasses during the day but driving at night... You can take sunglasses off at night.

Tinted windshields at night are like driving with sun glasses on at night. Trust me. Drove in a buddy's car like that. He bought it that way and didn't realize it was dumb.

The only tint I'd recommend for the whole windshield is the Crystalline 90%. You can't really tell it's there, but it offers additional UV protection.

A lot of newer cars have 77-80% tint already installed in the windshield glass. That is legal as long as it's from the factory.

50% may be a bit much.

Well my buddy's I'm referring to was at least 50% if I had to guess it might've been more (less?)... Darker... That's it.

Right, nothing wrong with that but if you can visibly tell a difference on the outside like the picture you posted then it's just not right.

Legally, in some states probably, you can have up to 70% light transmittance on the windshield. I wouldn't mind that.
