I also have 36's with 3.55's. Hills with a strong wind the trans gets a bit shifty as in it shifts a lot. But never had an issue. Get about 10MPG. But it is no dd. Off road in 4-low and drive I have no issue even up almost vertical rock faces. I will go with a doubler in time too but just for the MPGs. I use to run mud with 33's and 3.55's and 4-low was to low! Just dug the tiers down until the axles got hung up. I know for a fact with 36's if I had even 4.10's I would brake every time I went out and just spin in place. Have seen it done and it's kinda funny. Personal opinion skill beats gears every time.

idk how you guys say that the 3.55 gears with 33s is fine because frankly it feels like a turd and constantly shifts at or over highway speeds. i drive on flat roads and it still sucks. luckily its not my dd. on the low speed trails its fine but any kind of climbing or swamp crossing and i go straight to low range.

Ya you use low and what is wrong with that? On the road it is not a race car true but was it ever?

Yes ideally You have 6-8grand put aside an u get your lift wheels tires gears lockers axles bumpers sliders and winch all at once. I'm confident some people on here believe that's the way it has to be done. But again anything is possible. Maybe not ideal or comfortable or efficient but it's gonna work more than likely

Ran with 33's and 35's on 3.55's for a couple years with each size, both times seeing DD duty. It was slower, but it's not a race car as brutalxj said. Made it everywhere I wanted to in 4 low. I never changed gears because it was a waste of money when I was eventually going to swap axles. To each their own, but I laugh a lot when people say you CAN'T run bigger than such a tire size on such a high gear. It's a Jeep, not a Corvette...never meant to go fast.
