I'm here in Maine too and I had a set of 31" Duratracs on my old Bronco, and they are absolutely awesome tires. I bought them specifically because I do a lot of winter driving. I really don't think you'll find a better tire for snow traction. Get them studded and they'd be completely unstoppable. I can't really say anything about mileage because I only had them that one winter. I'll probably be picking up another set this fall.
Also, these tires are much more aggressive than the BFG A/T.
Judging from your screen name, are you a boarder or skier?

i have 235 Duratracs and have been through a total of 26" of snow in 3 three storms. they are an awesome tire. rain, sand, light mud and are unbeatable in snow.
I will have these sitting under a 3" lift i bought in a couple of weeks. i did buy a set of 31 DT's but sold them. my 235's have 7k on them and they still look bran new.
I rotate every 5k,religiously!!!!!

Yes, I know exactly what you're talking about. I know a couple guys with the K2 Weapon. I'm a skier, and my first two pair were Public Enemies and Silencers. They make great stuff. I'm not rockin any K2 equipment anymore, just because I wanted to see what else is out there. Same situation with the tires. Duratracs are great, but I'm just trying out some different stuff.

40K Very good street manners, low hum for a mud tire kick A$$ off road spin em clean. That being said BF KM2's are my next tire this winter, they get good reviews, 5lbs lighter and are hopefully as good to me as these STT's have been,

Ive heard lots of good things of the Dura Trac's. And for tires used during winter an option of studs is nice. The only thiing Ive ever heard bad about them is a softer sidewall.
And their price.... not a cheap option to say the least.

Don't overlook the KM2's, I plan on replacing before winter with them. Lighter and no more expensive than the STT's. $163/ tire for 30x9.5x15" + S&H + some Dyna Beads maybe and my friend has a tire changer so that should save me a few bones.

I don't want km2's. I already know it's down to these 2 but thanks for the input anyways

I'm currently running a set of 33x12.50 STT's. I got them when the first came out, actually I had the only set in my county, and I've had them on for about 5 years now. My XJ did take a backseat as a DD for awhile but the wear has been great, the only sets I've seen wear fast are two my buddies sets but they both drive 6,000 lb F-150's. I haven't had any problems at all. They grip good on any surface and have just the right amount of road noise, you know just enough to tell people in their yards "Yea I have mud tires and I'm coming" but not too much to have to turn the radio wide open.
