Very similar boat here. I ended up going with a 30" Hankook Dynapro ATM. Which I have really liked. But alas, they are not -quite- as aggressive looking as I would have liked.

My mind was definitely on the Duratracs. I came very close to getting them. I may still go back to 235 Duratacs on my next choice. But I wanted to add that Walmart has a special variation of the Duratrac called the Goodyear Authority. It basically has the same aggressive looks, but it is not quite the same build/quality of the Duratrac. Their reviews are a bit hit/miss but they are quite a bit cheaper, and several of my Jeep friends have them and have liked them. I think they are panned in the true off-road crowd, because while "looking" like a serious tire they are a bit weak for actually doing anything serious with. But for looks vs. price, you may want to be aware of them.

Thanks for the info man. They look to be about $145 a pop. Did you do 235 on your (Stock?) jeep? I'm almost thinking of going bigger but as other's have stated it's probably not worth it. I have that 1 or so inch upcountry and new stiffer shocks.

I have 30x9.5r15 on the up-country 1" lift. (by that, I mean I lifted about 1" using new up-country springs as well). They fit great, and look natural. Not everyone makes tires in that size, as its not that popular any more. For example, the Duratracs don't come in that size, so you'll have to do 235x75r15 for those. But there is very little visual difference between those two sizes. I just wanted to get the most tire that my lift would allow and still look good.

If you end up settling on a particular brand/model of tire that happens to be available in the 30x9.5r15 and 235x75r15...Then don't be afraid to choose the 30s with a 1" lift already on the vehicle. They will be just fine. 31s are a different story, not just because of their height, but because they jump up in width as well. (9.5 vs 10.5 typically).

Here is my cherokee forum pic album. These are all with the 1" lift and 30x9.5r15 Hankook Dynapro ATMs for size comparisons.

Good luck! Let us know what you end up with.

Thanks for the help, yeah I just found out how to look at member photos. They look good! Meaty. I'll post here when I figure out what to order and post before/afters. The Goodyear Authority supposedly is pretty damn good but the road noise may be pretty bad.

There's been a few cases of customers coming in recently with these with a few issues. One I think was a balance issue causing it to cup, but idk because it was wild hahah...then a man came in a few months ago and 2 of his tires were chunking.....overall I honestly think they are overpriced for what they are. I feel they are running off the goodyear name. Plus if you only sell the tire through walmart, it causes pause for me haha even though it's just a deal they have.

look into the khumo at51. Pretty decent tire. Just sold 3 sets in 2 hours today so far hahah.....reviews are mostly positive from customers as well. As far as the whole 30s vs 235s thing. I say never go with 30s. They are in a lot of cases only a half inch bigger then 235s so only a quarter of an inch extra ground clearance and tire filling up the fender well. Plus your paying a quite a bit extra for 30s as well for basically the same tire.

I don't recall a big price difference on my 30" vs. 235s. But if there was a large difference, then yes, go with the 235s. They aren't different enough to justify a much larger cost.

Oh, and after doing "my" leaf springs, I -earned- that 1/4" of extra ground clearance. lol.

I guess it depends on what's large to people. Most cases it's $15 to $20 extra for 30s. That's $60 extra dollars. To me that's crazy for the same tire essentially. We have most sizes available so when people come in saying they want 30s, we go into this discussion. They ask for a comparison, I bring 2 same tires out of 30s and 235s, and people never go 30s hahha a. They either go 235s or 31s. I haven't sold a set of 30s in like 3 or 4 months haha

At the end of the wheeling/dealing I was so focused on the total cost, that you are correct, I could have got dinged for $60 and not have realized it. I'll very much keep that in mind on my next set. Thanks for pointing it out.

I was so concerned about the cost difference of BFG vs. Duratrac. vs. Dynapro...that I probably missed the difference between 235 and 30".

No problem man. I like to make sure people get the best deal possible, why rip people off haha. Of course there are people that just want the size they want and the price isn't a concern. But at least they have the info to make their decision. Never go in blind for anything. A lot of purchases including tires are going online now. But always do research and go over everything. Go into shops and see if they have what you're interested in to get visuals and gauge their durability or their weight. Most places should be happy to help. I know we do, even though we probably won't make the sale. But those people remember that we helped and will come for repairs or to balance.

I think tires are so interesting haha. On truck or suv customers, me and my coworkers keep a little log of customer feedback on tires. Car tires not so much because we'don't have a huge log haha. It's similar to online reviews, but those either get people really happy or really upset. We get those in betweens well hahah.
