Here's a related question. How do you wash mud off the paint without scratching it up real bad? I hosed it off, but it is still there. I'm afraid to take a sponge to it as that will just spread the grit around. I'm sure this is a dumb question, I swear I'm not trolling.

Ha! I will wear this badge with pride. I'm currently building one of these and I will say it takes a certain type of person for sure. Someone who legitimately has a love for all things XJ. Besides, even after mine is done I won't have spent half of what a lot of people have into their wrangler builds. If there were 2 Jeeps (or just about any other vehicle for that matter) spec'd out exactly how I would want them, with 1 of them being an XJ, I am choosing the XJ every single time. I'd like to think I have some stuff in store for mine that is going to take it over the top, but that doesn't mean that it isn't going to get wheeled. I don't plan on beating it to absolute ****, but I'm sure it will get it's fair share of scratches and dings. Building is half the fun anyways. If Moab was my backyard I probably wouldn't build the Jeep I am now, but since the drive to the trails is a few hours through some mountains this build is what I wanted. That said, I can appreciate pretty much any XJ build. They are awesome in just about any form imo.
Here's how mine was even though it looks nothing like this right now lol. After this one is done, I do plan on building another on tons that I will drive with reckless abandon.

Can't wait to see the notch custom flares and new axles under you n jeep. Jeepology.
I believe you will be running the AEV Pintler? Will be a sharp looking rig when you're done.

They all look excellent but easy to see none of them have ever even been on a "Gravel Road" much less off road. I bet when it comes to details most all of them only have items to make them look like they are the real deal.
Most don't even have gears, lockers, axles, steering, SB disconnects, etc. or the "Beef" for off road, I have saw a bunch for sale that way from Davis online for one.

Yeah alot of the Davis builds are more of the driving on service roads. All there up to stage 4 stuff is pretty lame.
I just love the look of the ones build with 3-4 inch lift with rubicon rims. That's how I build the ones I sell.
The stage 4+ builds are pretty nice rigs with gears lockers and extreme duty rubicon lifts are setup for more actually wheeling. But there pricertainly for those builds is insane.
As for the daily driver builds they do. They are just that, more of something nice but cool to drive and something that is 95% street 5% service roads. And Davis defiantly not the only ones that builds those
