Top speed? It's slow enough getting to the speed limit unless you don't care about fuel economy :P

Hit 110 with 3 inch lift, no sway bars, and a bad alignment. Needless to say it was howlin and shackin the whole time

I hit 95 once with plenty left in her. Stock 00 with 3.55 gears. I left off the gas just to see my fuel economy hit 99mpg for 5 miles till i hit the breaks. Now im fine with doin 70mph, espcially since my speedo is off with my tires

Thumbs down

This thread sucks.

Like someone else said, I didn't buy an XJ to go fast. It is extremely dangerous to go above 65 with a lifted rig, not to mention stupid.

Go check out GMC Typhoon forums or something....

i'm sure mine is stable and powerful enough to do 110, but 65 is the speed limit around here...

The speedos on all british cherokees go up to 120mph. Ive taken both my 1993 4.0L I6, and my 1998 2.5L turbo diesel to track days. The 4.0 pulled like a train right up to 110mph and then stopped accelerating even though the engine sounded like it still had more to give. I read later that british cherokees (of that year) are electronically limited to 112mph for safety reasons?.(makes sense doesnt it..112mph is ok, but 120mph is just tooo dangerous!). The diesel pulled hard up to about 80, then started to run out of puff.. it made it up to 97 ish, but by that point my ears were starting to bleed so I backed off. I dont run my jeeps hard very often, and I dont do it on public roads, but its good to know what theyre capable of. No mods, just well serviced.. the 4.0 has a cone air filter, but thats not going to make much difference.
British speedos on my 1993 4.0L, and the 1998 2.5L TDsorry about the quality)

My needle was just a shade past 100 with my 235/75-15 tires. So Im guessing I was goin 108 or 110. Oh well, once is enough for me.

the speedo should run correct with 235/75/15's. i think it's actually incorrect with factory tires.

I've had my needle buried way past the 100 mark but have no clue how fast that was. 33's and no GPS makes that hard to calculate.

Had a Taurus sho up to 140 once.
Had the gfs tiburon up to 138.
Speed kills and I'm content under 80 now. (Usually)
