Just some food for thought... you could go to the junkyard for the measurements on the 97+ to make your jig.. or if you have the space/money im sure you could find a shell for cheap.. I sold just a shell for 225 and you could make your money back in no time... not telling you what to do just an idea

What do you guys think?

What about a full tube surround. With a single bar through the middle that opens. The opening part could even be height adjustable.

Would not have to fool with stock hinges and such. And it would offer a little roll over protection at least.

Just an idea I was thinking about. I don't think I want to pay for just a simple tube door that opens. But that is me.

1" OD tube is what I plan to use right now.

I have not seen a 97+ in a junkyard yet, thats why I need one in font of me to work against. Making measurements would be ok, but overall the chance the door fit properly from that would be slim. As for buying the shell, I can't do that. where I live I cant have something like that out front, and my garage space is already limited.

Last, I hate to say it but the tube door itself is all I am planning right now. If I were to create some kind of frame like you drew it would take more material, fab time, and overall cost.

Wouldn't be making no tube doors with DOM unless it was free. No reason sch 40 pipe or HREW wouldn't work.

So progress has been made. Got the bender finished and have the die for it as well. This weekend build/prototype process will start. I'm hoping to have some doors for sale by thanksgiving time frame. Lemme know what you guys think.

Nice! I'd take a set that's not welded up if you'd do that? I got a new job and have to learn how to weld and it would be nice to start on something that isn't structural on the Jeep.

I could do that. I'll keep that in mind when I do the first couple groups. would you want it shipped? thats the one part I'm having a hard time with. I keep getting misinformation from USPS and UPS about how I'm allowed to ship these things.
