Jp magazine actually covered that build first. It was called "Insane Inline" and they finished it up in the Jan. 2010 issue. It was amazing to get that much power from a 4.0.

 

Absolutely thats a must when doing any kind of forced induction on a vehicle not originally designed for it. Lots of people think they can bolt on a supercharger or a turbo and make power, very few actually understand all that is necessary to make it work reliably. For instance a supercharger kit for my GTO would cost roughly 5 grand but to make it all work so the car would make power and not grenade the motor I would be looking at 5 grand more or possibly more then that. Remember that something has to handle that power and send it to the ground. Hows your tranny going to hold up? Your driveshaft? Rear end? All these things and more will take more of a beating with more power.

 

Thats pretty cool but thats also 20 grand or more in modifications to make it all reliable for the street and the power level will significantly drop when you scale back to 93 octane.

 

I don't know if its been said.... jp mag has a whole build for a 4.0 with 505 performance turbo.. 500 something HP.

 

It's very unlike to have a Streetable 700hp motor. I think the thing some people are missing isn't to turn ur xj into "a 10 sec car"- torreto voice lmao. It's to find the right turbo an have a low/mid rpm torque monster at probably bout 375-400 hp. Anything passé that an u need to just buy an eclipse an play with it on the side lol
