UCONNECT network change
So I've heard from Uconnect that the 2018 Jeep Cherokee, Renegade and Chrysler 200 all use the system developed by Fiat, and as a result, the Uconnect no longer works in these vehicles since they changed from 3G to 4G networking. There isn't even a OBD2 device that will work in them. They told me that there is "no way forward" in resolving this issue as yet. Has anyone heard about a solution or work-around for this? Personally, I think if they replaced the modem in the head to a 4G modem, it would resolve the issue. However, that would be pretty expensive for them to do. I've also heard that some folks have bought new heads for their vehicles and it still didn't work. I'm pretty upset that my Uconnect doesn't work. I particularly liked being able to remotely start my vehicle when it was parked too far away to be able to start it with the key fob. I also liked being able to locate my vehicle in the event it were stolen. Come on Chrysler, get your act together and find a resolution to this issue. Maybe you just need to hire some smarter people.

It may not be what you want to hear for it...but if a company has determined they are discontinuing the use of a particular function or technology, it's generally because they've determined internally that it is just not profitable for them to continue or to fix issues with it. I haven't heard of anyone else coming up with a work around for it. Another company would have to deem it worth their time and effort to do so.
