Vacuum bypass, now stuck in 4x4

So even if it was fixed it shouldn't hop around? The steering wheel moves from 9-noon when I make circles. I didn't know some of them had that. I would still have to swap the axle to truly bypass the vacuum

You're making this SOOOOO over complicated that my head hurts.

Go adjust your transfer case shift linkage. With the transfer case lever in 2HI after that, go drive it in circles. Still hopping?

Jack up the front end and spin one of the front wheels one way.
What does the other wheel do?

Leave the front end on stands and report back.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I'm having issues with my 4wd..... I can hear the transfer case disengage but think the axle is stuck. . Jacked it up turned one wheel the other didn't turn but drive shaft did. Same thing on other wheel. My tires are squealing when turning hitting the lines on the road etc... np231 case low dana 30 in a 99 xj.... Going to check fluid level when I get home....

You have a different front axle design without the vacuum disconnect. Probably best to start a new thread.
