For a 100 foot cord 10gauge won't be enough and will get hot. I have an cord I made a few years back for mine, 220v 250amp Hobart, and it's 0/3 pair and still gets warm if I'm making long welds.

Big bottle. 4-5' tall. Don't know the correct terms but that was just to swap. Already paid for the bottle long ago

that will depend on the load, your welder is probably pulling 50+ amps, when welding on the high side. the 0/3 your talking about is the leads for an arc welder, I have a welder with 0/4 & yes they can get hot when I push amperage up & another welder that I have 0/2 wire, & they barely get warm, but the big welder can push upwards of 500 amps, probably only been into the 300 range, the small one 225 or so. both of them are gasoline powered welding rigs, for around the house I use a standard Lincoln tombstone 225 amp.

he is looking for a power cord from outlet to the MIG welder, & probably wont see over 20amps, probably 15, at 220 volts, so a 10 gauge would work for him. he can look on the data plate attached to welder & clarify how many amps it pulls, at 220 volts, & not welding amps. a person can get by with 30amps on 10 gauge, & more if just for a short burst of time.

Mine was free, Xmas, and its right around $200. The 110v isnt upgradeable to gas.

According to the specs on link given for the welder, max amp draw is 24.5 amp, 220 volt. When I first moved into my house and before running a 100 amp circuit out to my garage, I would unroll a 100 ft pc of 10/2 w/gound from the house to the garage everytime I wanted to weld, and never had any problems. I am running an older Hobart 150, 220v machine and I believe the amp draw on it is rated right at 20 amps.

Guess you'd be OK. My Hobart is rated at 60amps at 220 and I weld some pretty heavy metal so something that thin wouldn't work with it. Mine's a Hobart 250 and is about 500lbs and 3'x2'x3'tall. Guessing yours is a bit smaller.
