Default Went wheelin yst, saw this cool rig

Did 2 trails, "Ute trail", and "Yankee Hill". Ute trail was very short but challenging. Yankee Hill was ok, just crazy windy at the top. Like 60-70 MPH gusts. Anyway, at the top, there was this rig:

Talked to the owner for a while and here are the specs:
'82 Eagle, custom 4x4 w/NP242. D30 front, D44 rear, 3:55s w/Detroit TT front and rear. 3 spd tranny. Ford 5.0. 3" lift I believe, and winch. 31x10.50 MTR. He's doing a engine swap to a '01 4.0.

Couple other pics from the trail

Nope, that's not a Pacer, It's an AMC Eagle, the guy doesn't even know what kind of car he has? They stopped making Pacer's in 80 anyway.

That's the first thing I noticed too! Didn't the Eagle come stock with 4 wheel drive?

Sorry, you guys are right. My 1st thought was it's a Pacer, and I also remembered the Eagle, and that's what he told me it was. Just for some reason typed in Pacer. Edited

He was pretty knowledeable about it and everything Jeep related and all the mods and swaps. He said he modded that car to how it is now about 10 yrs ago.

I think he told me it was an AWD, but not part time Lo, or something like that (crazy windy). But I know he told me he put in an NP242.

Cool! I always thought it would be fun to trick out an Eagle. Especially the wagons:

It's just amazing how much better vehicles look with big tires and a lift.

Yea if it had a engine rebuild it had to have been done before we got it. I do not know how many mile was on it when he got it but we had it a long time and drove it from Ohio to Florida probably 25 times!

not a fan of that eagle, too many bolt on doodads. looks kinda tacky

i always liked the look of amc eagles with a small lift and mud tires

they came with the same 4.2l i-6 found in the earlier jeeps (basically a carbed 4.0)
im pretty sure the 5 speeds were an ax15, and the transfercases were new process units but they did lack low range. i have heard of np231 swaps though.

front is a simple ifs setup and the rear is leaf springs, not too difficult to lift at all.

just cant find them anywhere around here.
