Just a few things I can think of now :
iPhone in Lifeproof case with aux cable and charge cable
Wallet with cash and cards
Pocket knife
Gerber (multi-tool, leather man, whatever you call it)
E-Tool
Hatchet
Saw
550 cord
First aid kit
Jumper cables
Tow strap
Flashlights
MREs
Water
Gas can ( enough to get you home or to close gas station)
Duct tape
Zip ties
Poncho
Reflector blanket
IR beacon
Map
Compass
Chem lights
Fishing poles
Fishing tackle
Matches
Zippo
Zippo fluid
Binocs
Jack
Lug wrench
Spare tire
Change of clothes in zip locks
Poncho liner in zip lock
There's always more stuff you can bring. I'd rather bring it and not need it than need it and not have it.

From yesterday.
Burried in a creek run off up to the axles by myself. Could not go backwards due to a small concrete bridge.
Used my hand saw to cut down a tree hanging over the creek that was in my way.
Used a cable, log chain, and high lift jack to winch the jeep out of the hole, to where I could get on good ground.
Aired down my tires to 5psi to help me get out of the sediment filled creek without spinning a tire. So a small compressor from autozone filled all the tires up again.
Total recovery time: 1.5hrs
Actual hapenstances make the best examples

Well you know there are a lot of guys out there who have not had to do these things. Obviously or this thread would not exist.
Sometimes its nice to have illustrations.

Oh Sorry.......
I was stupid and nosed down this embankment. Just to see if I could do it.
The bottom was all sediment even though I could walk on it without sinking. So as soon as I tried to move the tires just went straight down.
IF I would have had lowered the air pressure first thing I probable would not have been stuck. But I was lazy.
lesson learned.
