What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Found that the previous owner "m(moron)echanic" cross threaded spark plug in head. Re tapped, heli coiled. Leaked. Pulled head... machine shop blah blah..... turn key and still leaks. Frown.
So... going to do it all again with another head! Good times.... right?

Every inch is new brake lines as of 5 minutes ago. Took all goddamn day. And on the Renix models, the abs module was impossible to get to. So I fabbed up my own design and moved it from inbetween the "frame" rail and the motor under the master, to right inbetween the master and the airbox where it's very accessible. And got creative with the brake line, looks funny as hell. I'll put pictures up in a few. Also went to the junkyard and got a new drivers door window, but havent finished putting it in yet.

Took a hammer to the AAL to knock it back into place. It keeps twisting in the pack whenever I do doughnuts or go off road. Seriously need to install my new lift kit.

garden tractor
I was looking at garden tractors a few weeks back. I wanted hydrostatic drive at a minimum, so $1600+. The more I looked at them the more I thought "I could break that thing in no time flat". The spindles are ridiculously spindly, so obviously not meant for anything other than a relatively smooth lawn. I was thinking of our property in the woods, on the hill, and how much better 4wd would be.
I found a '96 SE from Arizona with 133K on the odometer and spent the garden tractor money on it. First was oil and filter change, and trans fluid change. The next week it was replace the track bar, replace the rear brakes, and swap wheels & tires from my '96 Sport. Last week it was in for inspection and emissions and took a gas cap.
Monday it got a set of Hella 500s installed, the aftermarket stereo refit into the dash, the seats removed and interior vacuumed and scrubbed. Tuesday the seats went back in. This evening the Class III trailer hitch went on. I took it for a drive and tested the Hella 500s on some really dark rural roads and they work fairly well. The stereo sounds pretty good. It runs and shifts great. Did I mention it was from AZ and looks almost new underneath?
My wife calls it "the garden tractor" but thought it a good idea. We get to spend long weekends at that property about once a month, and it will be nice to have a spare vehicle there, one that I can actually use without worrying about getting stuck or breaking down with no way home.
