Too late. I need to get inspected so I just picked up a factory replacement.

Yea install an internal 3" diameter PVC street 45 instead of the stock intake opening. Fast easy and seal it with RTV. I get some good kick from her now

Put a battery back in the 95 and started it and gave it a preliminary once over.
Its running on 4 or 5 cylinders. Barely.
This is the one I loaned to my mom and she bbq'd the engine.
I had to have it towed home that day.
I was expecting to overhaul it but not quite sure now.
No excessive blowby even at 250k mines.
So maybe its just a cracked head.
It comes back out of the shop tomorrow and the wifes car goes in.
Alternator went out on it today arrrggg $190 alternator in an SHO.

its normal for it to have small grind when put into reverse because i dont think its synchronized. shift to third first and then reverse works for me...and my xj whines when reversing as well...

Yeah, I think I'll be doing that tomorrow. It's not leaking that bad, but it's only a matter of time.

Got the engine steam cleaned today (pics to be taken tomorrow) and then went to the local Marine Corps base and used their auto hobby shop to do a quicky valve cover gasket replacement. I don't know why I never used it before! I think I am going to live there for awhile!!! Lifts, all the tools I could ever need, and ASE mechanics to give free advice...all for $6 a day!

Excellent choice. My Duratracs have been put to the test and haven't let me down yet. Same size as well.

Went out to start my XJ just now, I always give it a few to warm up before I leave. I crank the wheel 90 degrees left so the heat blows on it where I hold it. For a few seconds I couldn't turn it at all, then the power steering pump made a noise like Chewbacca singing opera with tonsillitis.
