Put the new sway bar links that were on the 4x4 (before I replaced them with discos) on the 4x2. Then I suddenly realized it had a C8.25 on it! Because it's a mid-year '96, I'm not sure if it's a 27 or 29 spline. Unless someone can tell me how I can figure out what it is WITHOUT removing the axle or spider gears, that's what I have to do. I hope it's a 29, 'cos then I'm going to swap it with the D35 on the 4x4!

I was so excited about the TB too - it has johnny joints on both ends. Contemplating sleeving and extending it but i think that's too much work...guess i just need to sell it and cut my losses. Maybe I can convince Clayton to sell me just the bar and axle bushing since I already have the JJ end at the frame...

yea I was thinking about that, but don't have a welder. I think i'm gonna give Ironman Andy a call and see what he can whip up for me.
The lower JJ is welded to the tube so that one's pretty much a loss...not too sad since I would have had to make a custom axle mount to fit it anyways...oh well.

Really? People have told me it couldn't be done. Simply, anyway. That the carrier had to be changed out and that it would be easier and cheaper to just find a D44 to swap in. How did you do it?

I need help. I coulnt figure out how to start my own thread. BEARING HUMMING PROBLEM!
Okay. My jeep had a humming noise coming from the driver side rear wheel. My friend replaced the "bad bearing" and the noise was still there. I was then told to use a bearing buddy. Come to find out that is not what I need and wont really help my problem. Second I was told to replace my hub? I dont even have a hub in rear. So now I am royally confused. I am also being told it could be my tire. Please help me fellow jeep owners I have nowhere else to turn!!.
p.s. My dad said I have to replace the whole rear end? ahh!

could be. When the gears start to go out they whine. Take off the diff cover and inspect the gears for damage.

Nothing today (except to take it to the Shack to buy parts for my ham radio repair), but I've decided to change the diff oil in the 4x2 tomorrow. While I'm doing that, I might as well pull a shaft and solve the mystery of 27 or 29 splines! Sure hope it's as easy as everyone says it is!
